UPDATE: On August 10, 2020, the Huggies class action lawsuit was dismissed.

A concerned mother has filed a class action lawsuit against the makers of Huggies alleging that their Snug & Dry Diapers can cause a rash which requires medical attention.

Plaintiff Heidy Morales filed the class action against Kimberly-Clark Corporation, the makers of Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers, alleging that the diapers can cause a painful, persistent rash in infants.

Morales says she purchased Huggies diapers online in December 2017. When she started to use the box of diapers in February, her child “J.F.” developed a painful, persistent rash that did not resolve on its own and required medical attention.

After using the Huggies diapers, Morales says she noticed blue crystals within the diapers that she had not initially noticed. Due to the rash and crystals, Morales ceased using Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers.

“The Product website states that the Product’s characteristics will ensure ‘more quality time with baby’ and ‘help keep baby dry so they can giggle a little longer,’” the Huggies class action states. “Yet J.F. was very far from giggling after Plaintiff Morales applied the Product to him, and Plaintiff Morales did not consider the ensuing doctor’s visit to be quality time.”

Morales claims that J.F.’s reaction to the diapers was not unique, and cites numerous other reviews by parents claiming that their children also developed severe rashes after using Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers. Reviews and complaints on CircleOfMoms.com, Community.BabyCenter.com, Amazon, and Huggies own website allegedly show that countless children are experiencing the same reaction that J.F. did.

“I don’t know what happened to Huggies Snug and Dry, but the new version is horrid,” one reviewer stated in an Amazon review. “My baby would wake up with tiny pieces of glue or whatever the material that they are using now on his skin, this is only after 6-7 [sic] hs of wear at night. The sticky substance that supposed to be inside the diaper somehow leaks and ends up on baby’s skin and eventually irritates and you have a diaper rash or worse.”

The Huggies class action claims that Kimberly-Clark knew about the problems associated with their diaper products but continued to sell them regardless of possible injuries to children. Kimberly-Clark allegedly acknowledged the complaints of parents on Facebook as early as 2013.

“We take any concerns about our diapers very seriously, and we are working directly with this mom to learn more about what happened and how we can help,” the company reportedly said on their Facebook page.

Despite this statement, the company has allegedly continued to sell defective products which injure children, the Huggies Snug & Dry class action states.

Morales seeks to represent a Class of consumers who purchased Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers within the applicable period. Alternatively, Morales proposed to represent a New York Class of the same consumers protected under New York consumer laws.

The Huggies class action seeks restitution, disgorgement, compensatory damages, statutory damages, court costs, and attorneys’ fees.

Plaintiffs are represented by C.K. Lee and Anne Seelig of Lee Litigation Group PLLC.

The Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers Class Action Lawsuit is Morales v. Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Case No. 7:18-cv-07401, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

I’ve always used the snug and dry brand with my previous child, however I just went through the worst experience with my newborn. My son had a rash that started off as tiny raised pimple looking bumps. It was above his penis and in his groin areas. It got worse over a few days and of course I take him to the doctor. The doctor questions me of stds bc she wasn’t too sure of what it was. The rash looked like impetigo but the genitals is uncommon, so she tries to refer me to a dermatologist but no appts were available. Long story short I take him to the ER to be sure it wasn’t the bacteria infection, they take his blood and start pumping him with antibiotics. Later after the infectious disease doctors rule out everything they discharge us with “dermatitis infection”. I use the ointment they provided, and it cleared up. At this point I’m using the pampers brand, no rash.. fast forward weeks later I had someone buy me the huggies again I use them not thinking that’s what it was and the same dang on rash came back after using them for only 2 days. So im convinced there’s something in the diapers

  2. Olga Lopez says:

I stop using them because I did notice blister form on her private part. When I would change her diapers she would scream because it was raw it was so painful for me also to see her that way

I am a mother of a one year old . I have always used the huggies brand for my son but I buy little movers . The stores didn’t have movers s I bought huggies dry. My son has been screaming as if he s terrified for the past few days and I couldn’t figure out why my son loves to be independent. He wouldn’tlet go of me ever . This morning I check on him notice she keep putting his but in the air when i pickedhim up all I smelled was ammonia I didn’t understand why when I took off his pampers the smell got stronger and my baby’s but was completely red and peeled he wouldn’t stop screaming every titimtitime i wiped his butt . The more i wiped the more he bleed. I am furious with this produc they need to band this brand for false advertisement and for child endangerment. My baby is is pain and there nothing i can do about it but comfort him until it completely heals this breaks.my heart someone would put chemicals on a child’s brand yet along anyproduct. Whomever makes these needs to be to lose their liscence and should.no longer be allowed to make these this is such a harmful product for babies.

I’ve had the same issue how do I go about a lawsuit or can anyone with this experience join the already going lawsuit

  4. jackie ponce says:

I bought these diapers 3 weeks ago and I did notice that my baby started to get a really bad rash to the Point that it was raw even though i changed his diaper constantly that’s when i figured that it was the diapers that where causing his awful rash. I don’t understand why they haven’t pulled out these diapers from the shelves. I never had this problem before.

  5. Janie bibbs says:

My daughter whole private part is raw due to these diapers

  6. Shawnna says:

Both of my sons had bad rashes that looks liked burns. They’d cry if I even tried to wipe them. I switched brands.

  7. Michelle bemis says:

I recently had to change my baby’s diaper because she kept getting rashes so bad we’re she would be so raw an it wouldn’t go away unless I took her to dr or hospital to take care of it so drs an my family suggested to change her diaper so that’s what I did an now she hasn’t been getting any rashes

  8. Dominique Sims says:

My son has experienced his pee wee being raw right at the tip he mess with it all the time it irritates him so I was trying to change him before seeing the blue line, I’ve been using Huggies snug & dry since his birth he is now 7months he gets dry rashes that become extremely hard, because of covid I just deal with it at home but creams an ointment to calm him down from crying. This is horrible these diapers shud have BEEN removed from shelves. These babies should not experience any pain especially when wearing diapers that are soppose to make them feel comfortable SNUGGED AN DRY

  9. Connie Marsden says:

I always used huggies for my first two girls and loved them
My now almost 8 old would have chapped testicles that would almost look like they were splitting open and a hot red rash…
Due to Covid I never took him to the doctor…just thought oh it’s just a really bad diaper rash… he was cutting teeth and my girls would get a slight rash but nothing like this..I never thought it had anything to do with the diapers. I changed his lotions, body washes, butt creams everything to help him with this breakout.. poor baby was miserable! I Changed his diaper as soon as I would see the blue line that he had went pee. It wasn’t until one morning about 4hrs between changing (he never slept longer then two hrs at a time so this was the longest he went without having his bum changed) I noticed he had blisters all over his whole front area down to his bottom but the crazy thing was the blisters where the same pattering of the inside of the diaper
So at this point I knew it was the diaper. We have switched diapers and haven’t had a problem since

  10. Loren Warren says:

My son had a horrible reaction to the huggies diaper. At first I didn’t realize it was the diaper until I ran my finger across the inside of the front of the diaper and it was rough, causing irritation and redness and iching. Horrible diapers produced. I’ll never go back to huggies.
