UPDATE: On August 10, 2020, the Huggies class action lawsuit was dismissed.

A concerned mother has filed a class action lawsuit against the makers of Huggies alleging that their Snug & Dry Diapers can cause a rash which requires medical attention.

Plaintiff Heidy Morales filed the class action against Kimberly-Clark Corporation, the makers of Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers, alleging that the diapers can cause a painful, persistent rash in infants.

Morales says she purchased Huggies diapers online in December 2017. When she started to use the box of diapers in February, her child “J.F.” developed a painful, persistent rash that did not resolve on its own and required medical attention.

After using the Huggies diapers, Morales says she noticed blue crystals within the diapers that she had not initially noticed. Due to the rash and crystals, Morales ceased using Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers.

“The Product website states that the Product’s characteristics will ensure ‘more quality time with baby’ and ‘help keep baby dry so they can giggle a little longer,’” the Huggies class action states. “Yet J.F. was very far from giggling after Plaintiff Morales applied the Product to him, and Plaintiff Morales did not consider the ensuing doctor’s visit to be quality time.”

Morales claims that J.F.’s reaction to the diapers was not unique, and cites numerous other reviews by parents claiming that their children also developed severe rashes after using Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers. Reviews and complaints on CircleOfMoms.com, Community.BabyCenter.com, Amazon, and Huggies own website allegedly show that countless children are experiencing the same reaction that J.F. did.

“I don’t know what happened to Huggies Snug and Dry, but the new version is horrid,” one reviewer stated in an Amazon review. “My baby would wake up with tiny pieces of glue or whatever the material that they are using now on his skin, this is only after 6-7 [sic] hs of wear at night. The sticky substance that supposed to be inside the diaper somehow leaks and ends up on baby’s skin and eventually irritates and you have a diaper rash or worse.”

The Huggies class action claims that Kimberly-Clark knew about the problems associated with their diaper products but continued to sell them regardless of possible injuries to children. Kimberly-Clark allegedly acknowledged the complaints of parents on Facebook as early as 2013.

“We take any concerns about our diapers very seriously, and we are working directly with this mom to learn more about what happened and how we can help,” the company reportedly said on their Facebook page.

Despite this statement, the company has allegedly continued to sell defective products which injure children, the Huggies Snug & Dry class action states.

Morales seeks to represent a Class of consumers who purchased Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers within the applicable period. Alternatively, Morales proposed to represent a New York Class of the same consumers protected under New York consumer laws.

The Huggies class action seeks restitution, disgorgement, compensatory damages, statutory damages, court costs, and attorneys’ fees.

Plaintiffs are represented by C.K. Lee and Anne Seelig of Lee Litigation Group PLLC.

The Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers Class Action Lawsuit is Morales v. Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Case No. 7:18-cv-07401, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

  1. Loren Warren says:

My son had a horrible reaction to the huggies diaper. At first I didn’t realize it was the diaper until I ran my finger across the inside of the front of the diaper and it was rough, causing irritation and redness and iching. Horrible diapers produced. I’ll never go back to huggies.

  2. Lauren Caygill says:

My little one Keira, also has developed a rash… This never happened with the Pampers Pure line we were using. We switched because our local store was out of the regular ones we purchase. Now, we know why. I’m sorry to hear we’re not the only ones experiencing this issue. It’s sad to think that perhaps it’s our baby’s excrement that is too acidic, maybe we’re leaving the diaper on too long or using the wrong cream but hardly any of us stop and wonder if it’s the actual diaper itself! This is terrible. Prayers for all the little mums and bums affected.

My daughter who will be 2 December 2021 just developed a rash from Huggies Snug and Dry size 3. She started scratching profusely and pulling at her diaper. When I took it off I noticed a rash on her right cheek which started to spread.

  4. Amanda Hunter says:

Please add my daughter to your list ! She had terrible reactions to snug & dry huggies that blistered and were so uncomfortable she screamed whenever I put a diaper on her. We tried every cream possible, treated for yeast , nothing worked . As soon as we switched diapers , the rash went away !

  5. Amber Coleman says:

My daughter is currently at the doctors with the worse diaper rash I have ever seen from using huggies. I have used huggies since I had my oldest. The last box I bought was completely different than normal. My poor daughter is miserable and her rash looks like a chemical burn. No matter what ointment or cream I tried nothing helped. Its like red blisters and she is in so much pain. We are located in Kansas. I can’t believe how many others are experiencing this. I’m sorry to all you other mommas.

  6. Alanah says:

I have used huggies on both my smaller babies because one was allergic to luvs and one allergic to pampers.. Recently i noticed shiney shivers of something all over my sons body parts… I have no idea what it is.. It almost looks like insulation?? Has any of you moms seen this with the rashes?? Mississippi btw..

    1. Tynesha says:

Ive experienced where it looks like strings coming off of the diapers

  7. Ruby Johnson says:

    Please add me

    1. Carrie Clark says:

Please add me. I stopped using Huggies as daughter had blister form on her private area and ask when she urinated, it looked like little clear balls all over her behind area.

  8. Jen says:

Due to diaper shortage or what ever I bought these for my granddaughter who normally wears Huggies diapers all the time but these left her screaming in pain. She had blisters and was extremely red and swollen. No parent grandparent wants their child/grandchild to ever be in pain from something they think is safe for them. I feel horrible because I bought her these diapers just for them to turn around and hurt her that bad. And I’m very concerned if they are still selling these knowing that they hard children. Might be time to find a different brand all together.

  9. Amy says:

Glad I found this. Noticed mild diaper rash while teething and congested. After using a new box of snug and dry until I ordered more little snugglers I noticed a more intense diaper rash. My son didn’t want to open his legs up and cried when falling on his butt. After 7 days it looked like he had been burned. Saw this and stopped using them. Never thought it was a result of huggies diapers. They obviously do not care about babies. I am contacting them just to let them know even though I know they don’t care. So upset that I used these and caused my baby pain. He was miserable and in pain.

  10. Rachel says:

Wish I would have read sooner. I’ve never had issues with the little movers and have always used huggies. With shortages of my usual selection I just went with the snug and dry. My 2 year old son developed an awful rash twice now until I found this and switched immediately!! I’m located in Illinois. They need to remove all product!
