UPDATE: On August 10, 2020, the Huggies class action lawsuit was dismissed.

A concerned mother has filed a class action lawsuit against the makers of Huggies alleging that their Snug & Dry Diapers can cause a rash which requires medical attention.

Plaintiff Heidy Morales filed the class action against Kimberly-Clark Corporation, the makers of Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers, alleging that the diapers can cause a painful, persistent rash in infants.

Morales says she purchased Huggies diapers online in December 2017. When she started to use the box of diapers in February, her child “J.F.” developed a painful, persistent rash that did not resolve on its own and required medical attention.

After using the Huggies diapers, Morales says she noticed blue crystals within the diapers that she had not initially noticed. Due to the rash and crystals, Morales ceased using Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers.

“The Product website states that the Product’s characteristics will ensure ‘more quality time with baby’ and ‘help keep baby dry so they can giggle a little longer,’” the Huggies class action states. “Yet J.F. was very far from giggling after Plaintiff Morales applied the Product to him, and Plaintiff Morales did not consider the ensuing doctor’s visit to be quality time.”

Morales claims that J.F.’s reaction to the diapers was not unique, and cites numerous other reviews by parents claiming that their children also developed severe rashes after using Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers. Reviews and complaints on CircleOfMoms.com, Community.BabyCenter.com, Amazon, and Huggies own website allegedly show that countless children are experiencing the same reaction that J.F. did.

“I don’t know what happened to Huggies Snug and Dry, but the new version is horrid,” one reviewer stated in an Amazon review. “My baby would wake up with tiny pieces of glue or whatever the material that they are using now on his skin, this is only after 6-7 [sic] hs of wear at night. The sticky substance that supposed to be inside the diaper somehow leaks and ends up on baby’s skin and eventually irritates and you have a diaper rash or worse.”

The Huggies class action claims that Kimberly-Clark knew about the problems associated with their diaper products but continued to sell them regardless of possible injuries to children. Kimberly-Clark allegedly acknowledged the complaints of parents on Facebook as early as 2013.

“We take any concerns about our diapers very seriously, and we are working directly with this mom to learn more about what happened and how we can help,” the company reportedly said on their Facebook page.

Despite this statement, the company has allegedly continued to sell defective products which injure children, the Huggies Snug & Dry class action states.

Morales seeks to represent a Class of consumers who purchased Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers within the applicable period. Alternatively, Morales proposed to represent a New York Class of the same consumers protected under New York consumer laws.

The Huggies class action seeks restitution, disgorgement, compensatory damages, statutory damages, court costs, and attorneys’ fees.

Plaintiffs are represented by C.K. Lee and Anne Seelig of Lee Litigation Group PLLC.

The Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers Class Action Lawsuit is Morales v. Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Case No. 7:18-cv-07401, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

  1. Amy Ward says:

My daughter is almost four months with no issues with diaper rash until we recently switched to Huggies snug & dry size 2 about two weeks ago. The rash started lower in her bum and is now moving upward. Its red, inflamed & almost looks blustery. As a first time mom I googled because my instinct was this cannot be right. Reading this infuriates me. Add Hallie Ward to this list if possible. We are in BC, Canada

Hallie, I have been trying to find other Canadians with this same issue. Here is my number 905 992-0528. My grandson had a terrible rash that needed to be hospitalized. I would love to talk to you about your situation.

Please add my son Gustav to that list . I just had my baby 5/1/21 and we used all our pampers up started using huggies the past few days to have him looking like he has a chemical burn under his balls ! Had to get medicated cream from the hospital it’s not touching it he is so red and swollen with peeling skin I’m running to the store to go back to Pampers I’m so scared of scaring or infection due to these diapers I’m horrified! Really wished I saw this sooner before putting my baby in these diapers I feel so bad I just wish his balls heal ok

If it is not too late, ADD ME! I’m in Ontario (Canada). I just had my third daughter in March, my 3 y/o and my 2 y/o were both Pamper babies but I switched to Huggies for this new baby and I regret ever doing it! When she was born, we used Pampers nb size diapers but after about a week & a half we switched to size 1 huggies (Big baby) and before we knew it she started to blister and peel! She would WAIL when we were changing her and the rash would not improve despite A&D ointment, zincofax & eventually hydrocortisone (.5%). I’m very upset about this. We ended up switching to cloth diapers (very expensive investment) and the difference is tremendous but unfortunately because of how severe the rash/burn is, it’s still not back to normal. This is ridiculous and with the amount of complaints, I’m SHOCKED Huggies is still pushing their products!

Sabrina, I would love to talk to you. We had a similar situation and it went really bad and we are in Ontario as well

We have tried to find other people in Ontario who have had this same issue as our grandchildren

I have been using Huggies snug and dry for almost 2 years. My daughter 2 years old now has had a very bad rash for about 5 days now. I didn’t expect the diapers because I had been using them so long, but I bought butt paste also which usually works, nope it kept getting worse. I also have pictures. My daughter cries when wiped and pushes the wipes away. It looks horrible on her skin, and even though she can’t talk, I as a woman know if that was on my skin like that I would be extremely uncomfortable. Add me to the class action suit also. I live in Louisiana. I was going to buy desitin tonight, until my step-mom showed me this page, she figured it was the diapers. She was right. The fact that they’re still allowed to sell this crap says a lot about the people who are supposed to look out for the citizens in this country. I will be switching diapers and never using huggies diapers again, now I am scared to continue using their wipes.

I wish I would’ve looked into this earlier. I was using Costco brand diapers but switched to Huggies snug and dry as we were gifted some boxes from my baby shower. I change my baby boy often and he has never had issues with diaper rash until I used the Huggies. I was HORRIFIED of the rash he got. It honestly looked like a chemical burn. His skin was SO red and blistered. He poor butt bled and no matter how many creams, corn starch, wet wash clothes and baths, the rash persisted. The first initial reaction lasted over a week. After that I got it to “normal” but I always noticed his butt was always red. Once again, no matter how much I doctored his butt the red never went away. I just switched his diaper brand and I will NEVER USE HUGGIES SNUG AND DRY EVER AGAIN! My baby has some scarring on his skin and I wish there was something I could do to get some justice. I’m angry I didn’t take pictures. Do not use these diapers!

  6. Anna Widmer says:

My 15 month old has used snug and dry huggies for awhile, but over the last month she has developed a rash that won’t go away…swollen, red, and bleeding. She screams when we change her and won’t sit in the bathtub. After trying several creams and different suggestions, the only thing that has helped it heal it switching diapers. Very disappointed to read that this is happening to so many babies

  7. Tia Robinson says:

My son has the rash as well. He Cry’s and shakes his head when we change him @ 11 months old. Like every review I use to always count on Huggies but now smh. No matter if its one hour later I’m changing him the beads pop up. This has put me in a position as well because spending $40 at bjs for these Huggies when its your dime but then turn around having to get more diapers that are different is a hassle when when you have 7 kids all under the age 13. Money don’t grow on trees. At first we thought it was the wipes but no its Huggies! I’m so frustrated and sad that this happened to my little man

  8. courtney says:

my little one has used huggies since she was born and never had a problem but recently these past 2 boxes have a different look, smell (almost smells like chemicals and paint??) and have these purple stripes on the front for i don’t even know what reason. but these have given her a horrible rash and blistering, she’s cranky and even the buttpaste wasn’t working (that always fixes everything for her). this is extremely disappointing since i trusted huggies more than any other brand. i’m 1000% switching back to pampers after 11 MONTHS of huggies. idk what they’re doing but they need to fix their products ASAP.

    1. Mahnya Ashlei says:

Same. We always used huggies but the recent boxes with different design seem to be different and one of my twins bottom looks like it’s a bloody rash and she is really red and miserable for like 3 days now

  9. Andrea Orozco says:

I landed on this page when I was googling what the little beads the Huggies snug and dry diapers are leaving on my baby’s bottom. Every diaper change, there’s all these little white beads of something all over my baby’s bottom and between his thighs. It doesn’t matter if he wore the diaper overnight or a couple hours, the beads always appear on him. He also started developing a rash that won’t go away. Like others, I usually get the Huggies little movers but last time I went to get diapers, they only had the snug and dry. I can’t believe there’s these many complaints since 2018 and Huggies hasn’t done anything about it! Luckily I get paid tomorrow but idk what I’m going to do until I can get some new diapers tomorrow, Huggies has put me on a very tough situation, I also can’t, on a good conscience pass these diapers on to someone else, I’m going to have to throw them away, it’s awful, it’s so wasteful

  10. Tamara says:

Started using huggies baby dry last week. My baby is 5 months old never had any diaper rash or irritation. Yesterday I saw she has what looks like blisters that have broken between her thighs! I was mortified. The only change has been these diapers. Glad I found this page and comments. I hope this is investigated. I am going back to pampers and sticking to them!
