UPDATE: On August 10, 2020, the Huggies class action lawsuit was dismissed.

A concerned mother has filed a class action lawsuit against the makers of Huggies alleging that their Snug & Dry Diapers can cause a rash which requires medical attention.

Plaintiff Heidy Morales filed the class action against Kimberly-Clark Corporation, the makers of Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers, alleging that the diapers can cause a painful, persistent rash in infants.

Morales says she purchased Huggies diapers online in December 2017. When she started to use the box of diapers in February, her child “J.F.” developed a painful, persistent rash that did not resolve on its own and required medical attention.

After using the Huggies diapers, Morales says she noticed blue crystals within the diapers that she had not initially noticed. Due to the rash and crystals, Morales ceased using Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers.

“The Product website states that the Product’s characteristics will ensure ‘more quality time with baby’ and ‘help keep baby dry so they can giggle a little longer,’” the Huggies class action states. “Yet J.F. was very far from giggling after Plaintiff Morales applied the Product to him, and Plaintiff Morales did not consider the ensuing doctor’s visit to be quality time.”

Morales claims that J.F.’s reaction to the diapers was not unique, and cites numerous other reviews by parents claiming that their children also developed severe rashes after using Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers. Reviews and complaints on CircleOfMoms.com, Community.BabyCenter.com, Amazon, and Huggies own website allegedly show that countless children are experiencing the same reaction that J.F. did.

“I don’t know what happened to Huggies Snug and Dry, but the new version is horrid,” one reviewer stated in an Amazon review. “My baby would wake up with tiny pieces of glue or whatever the material that they are using now on his skin, this is only after 6-7 [sic] hs of wear at night. The sticky substance that supposed to be inside the diaper somehow leaks and ends up on baby’s skin and eventually irritates and you have a diaper rash or worse.”

The Huggies class action claims that Kimberly-Clark knew about the problems associated with their diaper products but continued to sell them regardless of possible injuries to children. Kimberly-Clark allegedly acknowledged the complaints of parents on Facebook as early as 2013.

“We take any concerns about our diapers very seriously, and we are working directly with this mom to learn more about what happened and how we can help,” the company reportedly said on their Facebook page.

Despite this statement, the company has allegedly continued to sell defective products which injure children, the Huggies Snug & Dry class action states.

Morales seeks to represent a Class of consumers who purchased Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers within the applicable period. Alternatively, Morales proposed to represent a New York Class of the same consumers protected under New York consumer laws.

The Huggies class action seeks restitution, disgorgement, compensatory damages, statutory damages, court costs, and attorneys’ fees.

Plaintiffs are represented by C.K. Lee and Anne Seelig of Lee Litigation Group PLLC.

The Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers Class Action Lawsuit is Morales v. Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Case No. 7:18-cv-07401, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Huggies Snug & Dry diapers has left my 15 month old daughter with rashes looking like burns in the area where the diaper goes! It’s in the folds of her upper thighs and on her private part! She’s not only experiencing the burns, but blisters as well! I talked to someone from Kimberly-Clark company just a few days ago regarding this case! The lady acted as if the company never knew anything regarding this matter! I reached out to this company regarding this matter and she called me the next day! I have the lady’s name as well, along with a voicemail she left for me to return her call and a case number! She send me two coupons valuing $3.00 each toward one of their products! This don’t nearby amount to the money I spent purchasing diapers nor wipes for 15months for my baby! I thought my baby was just having a bad allergic reaction to something she was eating or drinking! She also sent me an UPS envelope to send the company the remaining of the diapers I have! She said that the company will send out a $78 debit card reimbursing for the (1) case of Huggies Snug and Dry diapers and the (1) case of Huggies little movers diapers that I have! I have used this brand of diapers for 10 years! From my oldest son, middle son and my daughter! I’ve never seen this type of chemical burn and blistering rash until I started using these diapers on my 15 month old daughter! It’s the fact that the lady acted as if the information I shared with her regarding this matter was a surprise to the company! How do I get reimbursed for the damage these diapers has done to my baby and for all of the money I’ve spent on these products! The coupons and $78 don’t cover any of this damage!

It is April 10,2022 my daughter just woke up and changed her 5 month old daughter and she has a red rash and blister on her diaper area. She used the Huggies snug and dry for the first time not knowing about the irritations they cause. These diapers need to be pulled off the shelves . She is taking her baby to the doctor because it is very painful for her daughter. We will be calling the number on the pack of diapers to complain. Someone needs to pull these off the shelves because they are dangerous.

I have a similar issue, my some is 10 months old and has been using snug and dry since he was 1 month with no issues at all, then suddenly I noticed his diaper area red and irritated and was cranky and didn’t want to put on the diaper. So I decided to change the diaper brand itself and everything cleared up in a matter of hours. Thank God I decided to change because who knows how bad it could have been. Why these diapers are still on the shelf is beyond me.

Son’s bottom completely raw along the edges of the diaper. You can feel almost a sharp fiber-esque material lining the edges that is tearing him up.

  5. kate matheson says:

Daughter got a severe rash almost raw plus a blister, we didn’t realize it was the diaper then, it was a one off that was put on borrowed from another mother that was visiting. They left the remaining pack of huggies dry after a visit and a couple of weeks later we just used one this morning. Within a couple of hours she was screaming and crying and very stressed out clearly in pain. The diaper had immediately caused her to go red raw everywhere down there and she was behaving like it was burning her. This evening it’s not much better. Last time it took two weeks for it to completely clear up so that’s what we are expecting again. Two weeks of pain and discomfort. How on earth are these for sale, how can they be lying saying hypoallergenic on the packing! Absolute awful crooks at huggies! We know for a fact it’s the diaper that caused this as she’s only ever had pampers her whole 16 months with the exception of these two times.

I used this brand of diaper on my daughter a few times, every time she got horrible blisters on her butt and would scream in pain. Didn’t think it was the diapers at first but everytime I’d stop using them and the rash would clear up. Can’t believe these diapers are still being sold, it’s a shame we have these little humans to take care of and can’t even trust the diapers we put them in. I will never use Huggies again. We all need to spread the word and get these diapers off the shelves so these this doesn’t happen to anymore of our littles.

  7. Olaide Olagoke says:

I started using the movers for my 15 months old. Luckily he’s advanced in speech and can communicate his discomfort. He pulls at his diapers constantly saying Peee. (Penis, we thought him to use the correct word) I saw some rashes and applied ointment and it went a way. But next day he would cry and pull at his diapers and run when we try to wear a new one for him and say NO! I don’t understand how/why these diapers are still being sold in stores. Kids are literally suffering in physical pain so some rich people can line their pockets. Shame! On you huggies for praying on defenseless children

My daughter was born on December 10th, in the hospital they were using Pampers sensitive swaddlers and she did just fine. They held in the pee/poop and she had no reaction. My friend bought me a couple boxes of Huggies newborn snugglers, so I figured that I would use those before buying any myself and I Only got discharged three days ago and used those diapers for two days and her rash is so painful looking that it makes me want to cry?

My daughter has experienced 2 UTI’s back to back. Rashes and redness very painful. I went to put on a diaper and noticed a bunch of hard crystal type inside touching Her privates and bottom. The diaper was falling apart and looked very uncomfortable for a baby.
