Honda is recalling more than 325,000 Odyssey minivans from model years 2018 to 2020. The recall stems from a defect in the rearview camera system, which may fail to display an image when the vehicle is in reverse, posing a potential safety risk.
The Honda recall was announced on July 1 by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) under recall number 26V423. The recall is an expansion of a previous recall identified as 20V438.
It affects 325,588 Honda Odyssey vehicles, where water intrusion can prevent the rearview camera from functioning properly. This issue causes the vehicles to not meet the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, which mandates rear visibility.
“A rearview image that does not display reduces the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash,” the recall notice says.
Honda to replace faulty rearview mirrors for free
Honda has committed to resolving the issue by replacing the faulty rearview cameras free of charge. Owners are encouraged to contact their local Honda dealers to arrange a replacement.
Owners of the affected vehicles will receive notification letters starting Aug. 24, alerting them to the issue.

Honda says it has not received any reports of injuries related to the Honda recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
