Honda class action lawsuitA federal class action lawsuit has been filed against Honda claiming its 2003-2007 Accords and Civics have defective paint that delaminates, causing the vehicles to appear faded or to have peeling paint.

The Honda Civic/Accord paint class action lawsuit was filed by two Plaintiffs, including a New York resident who alleges portions of her 2003 Honda Accord began exhibiting “areas and splotches of deterioration and eventually grey or white areas where the vehicle’s original paint had delaminated. Over time, the paint delamination has increased in severity and extent, covering several of the vehicle’s body panels.” When the Plaintiff brought her car to a Honda dealership to repair the paint delamination, Honda denied her request because it was beyond the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty.

“In modern vehicles, automobile paint is routinely expected to last the lifetime of the vehicle, such that, absent an accident, a vehicles owner reasonably would not expect to have to spend thousands of dollars to have his or her vehicles stripped and repainted during ownership of the car,” the class action lawsuit says. “Honda, however, has manufactured vehicles with a defective paint or paint application, that leaves vehicle owners with a vehicle of unacceptable appearance. In addition, the delamination of the paint from the vehicle’s body panels, exposing the vehicle to enhanced erosion.”

The Honda paint class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of all California and New York owners of a model year 2003-2007 Honda vehicles. It is seeking actual damages and losses sustained by Class Members and other relief for breach of express warranty, breach of implied warranty of merchantability, and violation of California’s unfair competition law.

I purchased a 2007 Civic Si black exterior, and the paint on the front fenders and hood have significant cracking. I received otification from Honda that it was be reprinted no problem. But I need the top of the trunk and back side panels painted as well due to significant fading. A five year old car should not be having see issues..on top of my clutch having a linkage issue, Honda needs to step up and fix this.

I have my Honda Accord LX 2006. Recently I noticed that paint is peeling on the upper right and left unisides (aperture/roof rails) as well as the right and left back glass flange/upper quarters and paint bubbling along the back window edges and along the car top edges. The car has only 26000 miles on it. I bought the car from a Honda dealer in Texas. Now I moved to Michigan. I wonder how to solve this poor paint quality issue.

We have a 2009 Honda accord and the paint is peeling (actually most of it is gone – just bare metal) in the groove between the grooves around the back window and the roof. Honda knows this is a problem and Honda will not deal with this issue. Why should I pay 1/2 of the retail price to get it fixed when clearly it was a manufacturing defect. The paint did not adhere to the metal. I have purchased a lot of Hondas in the past, but i will be rethinking our next purchase (in about 3-6 months). Honda has shown its unethical response by not doing anything to correct the inferior quality of prep-work for the paint job. Think how many customers would come back to Honda if the problem was corrected. If there isn’t a mass problem – then wouldn’t cost much to correct. If it is a mass problem, then goodwill goes a long way to reestablishing good customer relations.

I have a 2005 Honda Civic – the paint on the trunk and roof are peeling and it looks HORRIBLE! How can I join this law suit? This is ridiculous _

I have a 2007 Honda Accord LX. I just noticed today that the paint is chipping along the edge of the roof where it meets the back window. I will be taking the car to the dealer tomorrow to see if they will fix it now before it spreads to the entire roof, as others have reported. I doubt that they will do anything about it, since most people have reported that Honda is not responding to this issue. How do I join the class action suit? I also saw on the internet that a woman from Florida, where I reside, has also filled a class action suit. Has it been merged with this one?

2006 Honda Civic Blue: Paint has been pealing for a while now, Honda service told me it would have been covered in full had i brought it in before my warranty ended, they never mentioned that fact to me until 2 weeks after it ended even though i brought it there every 6 months for oil changes and other service and the problem had been getting gradually worse over the last 3 years. Needless to say, I was pretty irate. They contacted Honda and Honda offered to pay 25% of the cost which they said would be $2000 total. The paint job looks horrible, and I have seen several other blue civics with the same exact issue as mine with worn areas in the same places, mainly the top, sides aren’t so bad.

I would like to join this lawsuit, how do I sign up? I can send pictures and more detailed information to you.
