GM lawsuit overview:

  • Who: More than 100 plaintiffs who own General Motors Silverado and Sierra HD vehicles are suing General Motors LLC, Robert Bosch GMDH and Robert Bosch LLC.
  • Why: The plaintiffs claim the diesel trucks emit emissions higher than their gasoline-powered counterparts, higher than allowed by emissions standards and higher than advertised.
  • Where: The GM diesel lawsuit was filed in federal court in Michigan.
  • What are my options: Advance Auto Parts provides parts for GM and other vehicles.

More than 100 plaintiffs who own diesel General Motors Silverado and Sierra HD vehicles are suing General Motors and Robert Bosch claiming the clean diesel vehicles that GM advertised do not actually have clean emissions.

Instead, Bosch lawsuit plaintiffs claim that an estimated 705,000 or more 2011-2016 Silverado and Sierra 2500 and 3500 diesel trucks on the road actually have emissions that are higher than the trucks’ gasoline counterparts, Environmental Protection Agency standards, reasonable expectations and higher than the company advertises.

“These vehicles exceed federal and state emission standards and employ at least three different ‘defeat devices’ to turn down the emissions controls when the vehicle senses that it is not in the certification test cycle,” the GM lawsuit claims.

GM is one of several car manufacturers that have had diesel emissions scandals, GM lawsuit says

There have been major diesel vehicle scandals in the past two years involving diesel vehicles from Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Mercedes, and FCA. Volkswagen pled guilty to violating the Clean Air Act, Mercedes is under Department of Justice investigation and FCA is facing a lawsuit from the EPA according to the GM lawsuit.

GM was driven to use the defeat devices and tactics to increase sales and ensure profits, the Bosch lawsuit claims. The plaintiffs are asking for their money back on the truck purchases or at least the money back they overpaid for a truck without the technology the companies claimed it had.

Three classes of GM vehicle owners asked a California judge earlier this year to throw out GM’s request to overturn a $100 million jury verdict that was awarded because GM was found to have sold vehicles with hidden engine defects that caused them to use an excessive amount of oil

The plaintiffs are represented by Charles Miller, Eric D. Pearson and Michael E. Heygood of Heygood, Orr and Pearson.

The GM diesel lawsuit is Anderton v. General Motors LLC, et al., Case No. 1:19-cv-11306-SJM-APP, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

One thought on GM, Robert Bosch lawsuit alleges diesel trucks falsely advertised as clean, environmentally friendly

  1. Richard Matthew Jr says:

I’m sorry did you say diesel trucks are supposed to have some sort of cleanliness to it?! I’ll say that to the next one sitting next to me out of traffic light to the point where I can’t even breathe and I’m huffing in fumes from these freaking trucks blowing out black clouds of smoke! But they think that that was trying to clean things up as hard as the atmosphere and I don’t know our health?! The things are disgusting and I really hate when they sit in a parking lot right by the front door of an establishment with their stupid trucks running! That should be against the freaking law because nobody who is a human being or Alive can stand there and breathe those disgusting fumes let alone the super discourteous drivers that don’t care that they’re putting out all these noxious fumes and also every time I see one on the road and they have to pass somebody a huge pool of black smoke goes in the air and into my lungs. I don’t care if I’m not diagnosed with anything now but what about companies poisoning people and then later on their health is affected? This is bullshit that everybody’s saying that they’re cleaning up and this and that and from what I’ve seen nobody could care any less about what’s going on around them. It’s like stupidity is an infectious disease these days. How about somebody looking out for people that actually are concerned about their health?! I get screwed out of every lawsuit that I’m supposed to awarded by the courts for other things referring to Big Pharma as well as medical malpractice and nobody is responsible for a damn thing anymore. You’ve got people that have no business being in businesses that they are these days. As I talk text this through my dental malpractice injury and wouldn’t you know that the facility just disappeared on me and told me to go pound sand? Now we’re talking about diesel trucks making me inhale all their freaking fumes and blowing out black smoke? Diesel is the most unrefined type of fuel. Anybody who thinks that there’s a better cleaner kind of diesel fuel is absolutely ignorant and obviously believes whatever they read. Everyday I read a news story that registers off of scales of stupidity.
