According to the class action lawsuit, Bayer and Merial collectively sell approximately $2 billion in flea and tick products annually, including Bayer’s line of Advantage, Advantix, K9 Advantix and Advocate products, and Merial’s line of Frontline and Certifect products. These products are sold as treatments for dogs and cats suffering with fleas, ticks, adult flea eggs, larvae, mosquito, heartworm, ear mites and sarcoptic mange. While each one of individual products targets only a limited subset of the pet aliments, all of the products target fleas and their larvae.
The problem, the flea and tick product class action lawsuit states, is that Bayer and Merial make false and/or misleading claims about what these products do. These allegedly false advertising claims include that the products:
* are self-dispersing and cover the entire surface area of the dog or cat’s body when applied in a single limited spot;
* are effective for one month and require monthly application to continue to be effective;
* do not enter the blood stream of the pet and instead move across the pet’s skin to cover the pet; and
* are waterproof and remain effective following shampoo treatments, swimming, or after exposure to rain or sunlight.
The Bayer and Merial Flea and Tick Product Class Action Lawsuit is seeking to recover damages on behalf of all consumers who purchased the products, as well as an injunction barring Bayer and Merial from continuing to misrepresent what their flea and tick products can do.

I used advantix on my dog for the first 2 years of his life… then he started having seizures. He is now 7 years old. He has damaged nerve endings because of this product. He has a major seizure at least once a moth… lasting a minute and a half to two minutes in full seizure!! We can’t get him to stop scratching… rolling (to scratch where he can’t reach) and it has gotten so bad, he has no undercoat left… he’s chewing and scratching himself bald!! There are no fleas!!! Just nerve damage from a lethal product that we all put our trust in!! This stuff needs to be banned! I would definitely get involved in a class action suit!
yesterday I put pet armor on my 7 pound Yorkie and today she started vomiting and having bloody diarrhea. This has happened before but I never related it to the pet armor. I am now hoping that she doesn’t have more serious complications.
Can you tell me how you made out? My dog is having the same issues.
My dog is in agony as well. He also developed pus-filled boils from a skin infection from scratching 24/7. Frontline does NOT work, and we have spent far too much money on it as well as antibiotics and medicated shampoos for our dog’s skin condition. It is now November, and the poor dog STILL HAS FLEAS, even after recently applying more Frontline. Our Vet states we need to vacuum, wash his bedding, etc. and we have done all that. Reading these forums makes me realise I am not the only one with this problem. I would like to file for the class action lawsuit as well. HOW DO WE DO IT?
Is there a current class action law suit against this frontline company? Something has to be done to stop this harmful product. As I am researching this produce after using it for 4 months and it does not work. I called the company as was told the flea and tick applications only kills all stages of the fleas but does not “repel” them. Also I was accused of applying it properly and it was my environment that was the cause of the recurring flea infestation. My dogs are red raw from chewing and scratching, it has cost me a fortune in vet bills and medication. We pet owners need to be compensated for the wrong advertising this company has portrayed to consumers.
My dog just passed away from liver cancer and I was using Frontline Plus on her – she was 15 and I got the Frontline Plus from the Vet and checked with the Vet to make sure it was safe… I was told by the Vet to use it for one year to make sure the fleas that they had gotten from a groomer were gone… I only used it for 6 months and not con-currently… My poor dog whom I loved with all of my heart is now gone to an exceptionally invasive form of hepatic carcinoma The EPA had documented reports that Fipronil the main ingreident in Frontline Plus and many others “inducess cancer in animals”, so why is this allowed in any product…
I have 2 dead dogs due to this,,I had a poodle pass away in April from a violent seizure,, 4 days after application,, My Maltese died last mth,,she came down with hepatitis a week after my poodle died,,I just remembered They both had 2013 New Frontline Formula,,Now I have two dead babies,,I am DEVASTED,,GREIVING,,I WANT THIS OFF THE SHELFS,,I WANT JUSTICE,I WANT MY BABIES BACK,,
I used all advantage, advantix and frontline. It was almost like a joke compared to what has been advertised. They almost did not work at all.
These products MUST be removed from the market!
My poodle got seizures every single time I used Frontline flea control on him!
I didn’t realize it was from the Frontline so I continued to use it for a few years.
I thought he was having strokes and took him to vets who said it was seizures.
I stopped the Frontline 3 years ago and he never had a seizure since!
He has permanent residual back leg weakness due to the previous seizures.
Do not use Frontline on your pets!
It could kill them and not the fleas!
Frontline intentionally and grossly misrepresented their product to the public. I spent so much money on Frontline Plus for my 6 cats and it lasted less than 2 weeks. I want full reimbursement for the product, vet bills and housecleaning to de-flea.
I got K9 advantix for my old dog maybe 7 years ago and put it on him about 4 days before a trip to a lake in Kansas. We camped for several days and that last day there I noticed he had ticks and found several more by the time I got back to Denver. I noticed the product was made in Kansas so I mailed a letter voicing how ticked off I was that their product didn’t work plus the fact the ticks were Kansas ticks and one would think their stuff should work on their own ticks. BTW did I forget to mention the live ticks I pulled off were included with my letter! LOL! PS My dog did develop chronic kidney failure and I wonder if this crap had something to do with it?
