AstraZeneca Nexium Class Action Lawsuit Certified

A federal court has certified a class action lawsuit against AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals that alleges it deceptively marketed its heartburn relief drug Nexium as superior to its other medicine Prilosec in order to get consumers to purchase the more expensive Nexium. The court has ruled that the class action lawsuit can proceed on behalf of certain people who purchased Nexium in the past 10 years.
According to the Nexium class action lawsuit, entitled Commonwealth Care Alliance v. AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals L.P., AstraZeneca violated a Massachusetts state law by deceptively marketing the prescription drug Nexium as superior to Prilosec or its generic version, omeprazole. The class action lawsuit claims that AstraZeneca did this to convert the market to Nexium before Prilosec lost patent protection and became available in cheaper generic omeprazole or over-the-counter form. The class action further claims that AstraZeneca’s deceptive marketing has misled doctors to prescribe Nexium under the mistaken belief that it was superior to Prilosec.
The AstraZeneca Nexium class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of all purchasers of Nexium in Massachusetts who purchased Nexium between March 2001 and the present, including third-party payors, cash payors, and those making co-payments. It is seeking damages for Class Members to restore to them all overpayments they made as a result of purchasing Nexium when they could have purchased the less expensive and equally effective Prilosec.
No class action settlement has been reached in the Nexium class action lawsuit yet, but Class Members will automatically receive settlement benefits if one is reached. Steve, was the checks sent from AstraZeneca over nexium fractures you had after taking the drug? We’re you in a mass tort lawsuites or you sued them, or a class action? I,m in a mass tort in Houston, Tx. Please tell us your experience with nexium. I started getting fractures in 2011 for no apparent reason.hip,foot,the other foot broke in 2 places plus the ankle. I had hip surgery in July 2011 4 months I got a compound fracture of my right femur bone,had emergency surgery that night,4 blood clots in my lungs after surgery,in the hospital for 3 weeks several blood transfusions , later I fractured my left ankle, rib, pelvis and big toe. I took nexium for 7 years 40 mg daily. I got osteoporosis 7 months after starting the nexium. I,m now 66 and my walking is awful not stable at all. It has changed my life so much, I can’t climb stairs or stelp of a curb like I use to ,I have to hold on to a car or something, or stop and decide what foot to put dow first. I usually use a rollator . Can’t stay on my feet very long to much pain. I,m in constant pain,and I now have a broke ankle and maybe foot although the X-Ray did not show it. Sorry this is so long but just wanted to see if you had similar fractures. I,m glad you got your checks,but nothing will make us like we were before. Sorry to hear of your problems with Nexium, but this class action was just for MA state for over payments on scripts. Hope this helps.
my wife spent Christmas 2011 in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital and I believe her near death ordeal was caused by the three years of being on Nexium.She has all of her dismisson records.
This type of lawsuit makes me sick. This medicine has healed many patients that if not developed could have ended up with esophageal cancer. Not only is this frivilous, it can potentially impact the development of a medicine that could save your life. The people of this country really need to take a good look at themselves.Pretty soon we will all stop trying to help one another for fear of getting sued!!!!!
You have a right to your opinion , but if you are a loved one started getting fractures of all kinds for no apparent reason,no fall or known injury,wouldn’t,t you wonder what the heck was causing them? After 2 major surgeries within 4 months apart,and broke feet,ankles more Tha once, rib, pelvis,toe. After I got home from 3 weeks in the hospital I heard about the connection between nexium and fractures for no apparent reason. I called an attorney at once. I took nexium for 7 years.Neadless to say I stopped immedantly ,after hearing this. I hope you never experience the fractures and the pain of a compound fractured femur bone, or hip.Its horrible. How long did you take nexium before you fractures? Spine fractures are mentioned in the lawsuites. Call an attorney or look up nexium fractures on your computer or iPad and you will find links to attorney websites that practice in this area dangerous drugs. They usually have a form for you to fill out and the they will contact you. Usually, if you don’t get paid they don’t get paid. Can,t beat a deal like that LOL Good luck. I always thought I can’t afford an attorney ,but when they work on contingusy . You can. They may take 40 percent if they win your case, trust me they deserve it. Good Luck

Billie, talk to an attorney at once. It depends on how long you used the drug,if te drug could have caused the oesteoperosis . I don’t know what state you live in, but talk to a attorney that works on Danderous drugs. You may still be able to get in on a class action lawsuites. I can’t really say much but a lawyer can answer your questions on this matter look up on your computer or iPad in the search bar Nexium Fractures. That should take you to some attorneys websites. I took nexium since 2003 regularly prescribed by several different doctors for my stomach ulcer how ever 5 yr ago I was diagnosed having severe osteoporosis i am no longer able to walk and require dual total knee re-placement of both knees because both knees have no cartledge left in them, I require the use of aelectric wheelchair and a fulltime assiante for all my needs.
Both my hands and arms are completely full of osteoporosis i re quire help full time.

All of the people that have suffered nexium fractures, contact an attorney. But hey usually work on contingency ,If they don’t win your case you owe them nothing, if they do they may get 40 percent. Just ask them about that. Good luck to you all and I hope you all get well
Hi, I would like to join “NEXIUM BONE FRACTURE LAWSUIT”. How would I do that? I am still suffering hip and knee joint pains since I had taken nexium in late 2006. I have all docs reports and MRI’s.
