Patient Files Actos Side Effects LawsuitPlaintiff Terry H. has initiated an Actos side effects lawsuit, alleging that Takeda Pharmaceuticals failed to disclose significant side effects and caused him to suffer unnecessarily.

The Actos side effects lawsuit was initiated after Terry received a prescription for Actos to treat his type-2 diabetes. The medication was initially approved by the FDA in 1999 for the treatment of type-2 diabetes.

The Actos side effects lawsuit alleges that Terry as well as others who were prescribed and ingested the medication for longer than 12 months faced a higher risk of developing bladder cancer. Terry says that because of his bladder cancer, he currently requires and will require future ongoing medical care and treatment for many years.

The development of bladder cancer can be disturbing for patients who did not know that taking Actos for a long period of time could reportedly increase their risk. This means that patients might not be looking for the side effects related to bladder cancer and might be diagnosed with the condition after the cancer has had time to develop.

An early diagnosis of any type of cancer is helpful for defining treatment options, but some of the users of the Actos drug say they were never told about the connection between the drug and cancer.

The Actos side effects lawsuit alleges that these patients have unnecessarily had to suffer from bladder cancer and its resulting side effects. Terry accuses the manufacturer of concealing the knowledge that Actos could lead to bladder cancer from the medical community, other consumers, and the plaintiff. Specifically, Terry argues the manufacturer should have warned users of the medication and the medical community that the risk of bladder cancer was higher for those who used the medication for longer than 12 months.

According to the Actos side effects lawsuit, a study published in 2005 should have indicated to the defendants that a statistically higher portion of bladder cancer cases were present in those patients who received Actos versus comparative medications. However, the Actos side effects lawsuit says that the maker of the drug failed to publish these results discovered during the study in a way that would have warned the medical community or possible users of the drug about the issue.

Terry claims that despite numerous studies and FDA findings that the use of Actos was connected to a statistically significant increase in bladder cancer risk that representatives of the company alleged that studies have not shown a risk of bladder cancer or other cancers from using Actos. The plaintiff in this Actos side effects lawsuit was diagnosed with bladder cancer in August 2017 and alleges that he suffered serious consequences due to long term Actos use.

If you or someone you know has been negatively affected by the risk of bladder cancer after taking Actos, you may be eligible to file an Actos side effects lawsuit.

The Actos Side Effects Lawsuit is Case No. N18C-08-014JRJ filed in Superior Court of the State of Delaware.
