The Home Depot Inc. has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit with consumers whose email or payment card information was stolen as a result of a data breach.

If you used a credit or debit card at a self-checkout lane in a Home Depot store between Apr. 10, 2014 and Sept. 13, 2014 or received notice from Home Depot that your information was compromised as a result of the data breach, you may be entitled to benefits from the data breach class action settlement.

In September 2014, Home Depot announced that it had been affected by a data breach that compromised the credit and debit card information from customers who used a self-checkout counter at U.S. Home Depot stores. The criminals also allegedly obtained a separate file that contained email addresses of some Home Depot customers.

The retailer was subsequently hit with several Home Depot data breach class action lawsuits filed by customers who claimed Home Depot failed to adequately safeguard their payment card and personal information. The plaintiffs also alleged that Home Depot did not provide affected customers with timely notice of the data breach.

Home Depot denies the allegations but agreed to settle the data breach class action lawsuit to avoid the cost and uncertainty of trial.

Home Depot has agreed to establish a $13 million Settlement Fund to provide compensation to consumer with documented losses linked to the Home Depot data breach. Home Depot has also agreed to provide 18 months of free identity monitoring services to customers who used a credit or debit card at a self-checkout lane in a Home Depot store.

I never received any check. I have emailed many times with my claim number. I have never received an email back. There’s nowhere for me to call as it just sent you to an automated service. Now what do we do. All the crap we went through back in 2016 getting new cards and everything and we the small people get screwed but the attorneys get all their money. This is such a crock of shit. I’m a very upset person right now

  2. PATRICIA SMITH says:

    1. Zom says:

I tried calling several times, sent emails that go unanswered. Filed claim. Info stolen. Now what???

  3. Miller says:

I am considering filing a complaint against General Counsel with the Bar Association. Home Depot actually sent my company an email informing me that my info was breached. I forwarded this email to General Counsel when they denied me payment. They ignored me after sending this email verification. I believe that KCC deliberately withholds money from legitimate claimants.
