According to the Ghirardelli settlement website and reader comments on ourTop Class Actions Facebook page, Class Members who filed a valid and timely claim for the settlement will receive a check on or before March 19, 2016.

If you filed for the Ghirardelli white chips class action settlement, keep an eye on your mailbox because your check may be arriving soon!

Top Class Actions has been covering the Ghirardelli class action lawsuit since 2014. The Ghirardelli lawsuit was originally filed by plaintiff Scott Miller who alleged the chocolate maker mislabeled “Ghirardelli Chocolate Premium Baking Chips – Classic White” (white chips) as containing chocolate even though they did not.

Ghirardelli Chocolate Company agreed to pay $5.2 million to settle the class action lawsuit as well as make various changes to its white chips bag label.

Under the terms of the Ghirardelli chocolate settlement, the manufacturer has agreed not to use the phrases “baking chocolate” or “chocolate indulgence” on its white chips packaging, and to refrain from using “all natural” on any of its products.

Class Members who submitted valid Claim Forms are expected to receive $1.50 for each bag of Ghirardelli White Chips and $0.75 for any of the other eligible Ghirardelli products purchased between Aug. 17, 2008 and Oct. 2, 2014.

Ghirardelli white chips class action settlement Class Members are expected to receive a check worth up to $24 without a receipt and a much higher award if proof of purchase was submitted.

The deadline to file a Claim Form for the Ghirardelli class action lawsuit settlement passed on March 19, 2015.
