A Walmart customer has filed a class action lawsuit over claims that Spring Valley supplements are mislabeled as containing glucosamine sulfate when they really contain glucosamine hydrochloride.

The Spring Valley glucosamine class action lawsuit was filed by Angela Diamos who says that she purchased multiple bottles of Spring Valley Glucosamine Sulfate for her joint pain.

The bottle is reportedly labeled as containing glucosamine sulfate potassium chloride. However, the plaintiff says she sent the supplement to a lab to have it tested, at which point she discovered that it contained glucosamine hydrochloride instead.

Diamos says that Walmart knowingly mislabeled the glucosamine supplement because glucosamine sulfate is more desirable and more effective than glucosamine hydrochloride.

Allegedly, Walmart enticed customers into purchasing the supplement by mislabeling it and charging a premium for the product.

The glucosamine class action lawsuit asserts that Diamos and other customers were financial injured by Walmart’s mislabeling of the supplement because had they known that the product contained a lower quality and less effective supplement than what was advertised, they would not have purchased the product or would not have paid as much as they had for it.

The Walmart supplement class action lawsuit says that Diamos continues to be harmed because she has no means of knowing if Walmart is telling the truth about the ingredients of Spring Valley Glucosamine Sulfate without conducting costly laboratory testing after buying the products.

Diamos says “this uncertainty has prevented her from making additional purchases.”

The Walmart glucosamine pills class action lawsuit goes on to argue that reasonable customs would be misled by the labeling of the products because they have no way of determining that the product is not really glucosamine sulfate. Allegedly, customers have to rely on a seller’s representations of a product, and are entitled by law to do so.

Diamos seeks to represent a Class of consumers around the country who purchased a Spring Valley supplement labeled as glucosamine sulfate but was really glucosamine hydrochloride. She also seeks to represent a subclass of California consumers.

The Walmart glucosamine supplement class action lawsuit says that Walmart violated the California Unfair Competition Law, the California Legal Remedies Act, and the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, because the company misled customers about the nature and ingredients of a product in the interest of their own profits.

The Walmart class action lawsuit states that Walmart is guilty of fraud and malice by intentionally misbranding its Spring Valley Glucosamine Sulfate tablets and by intending to cause injury to Diamos and to other customers in the interest of its own profits.

Diamos is represented by Jonathan M. Rotter and Danielle L. Manning of Glancy Prongay & Murray LLP; and by Carl L. Stine, Matthew Insley-Pruitt, and Sean M. Zaroogian of Wolf Popper LLP.

The Walmart Spring Valley Glucosamine Sulfate Class Action Lawsuit is Angela Diamos v. Walmart Inc., Case No. 2:19-cv-05526, in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

I purchased Glucosamine, Spring Valley, from Walmart several times. One thing I noticed is that it did basically NOTHING. I will be adding myself to this lawsuit. I have a bottle setting on my shelf, almost full. I will be happy to take a picture.
