Fabletics, the athletic clothing site co-founded by Kate Hudson, offers stylish workout clothes and even more attractive deals, but some consumers claim that when they’ve tried to cancel Fabletics, it’s much more difficult than it should be.

How Does Fabletics Work?

The best Fabletics deals are generally available to those who sign up for their VIP subscription program, while general membership tends to charge full price. The Fabletics VIP Membership subscription costs $49.95 per month, which goes toward workout outfits at cheaper prices. The deals offered through Fabletics are often substantial: their leggings, marketed at a $99 value, are sold at a steep discount to their VIP members, two pairs for $24.

However, a number of consumers have complained that the Fabletics site is deliberately misleading about their deals and their subscription program, tricking customers into signing up for a monthly subscription they didn’t intend to opt into. Some find that they’ve been signed up for a subscription program when all they wanted was to make a one-time purchase.

Can I Cancel Fabletics?

But when consumers decide to cancel Fabletics, some have found that it may not be easy to do.

According to one customer review on sitejabber.com, the company has “deceptive practices.” The customer writes: “I was never aware when I purchased leggings they would automatically charge me $49.95 every month for items I never purchased unless I opted out of a purchase every month.” The site itself was misleading, the customer notes, and even when they called to cancel Fabletics, the customer service representative further confused the situation.

“She never explained that by cancelling immediately I was not eligible for member discount rates and would be charged “full price” for any item I bought to eat up the $49.95 they already charged to me for nothing,” the customer complained.

Some customers claim that, even after they cancelled their Fabletics membership, they continued to be charged for it—even though they had received a confirmation via email that their VIP membership had been successfully cancelled.

Julia Jornsay-Silverberg, one of many former Fabletics customers who claims she was charged for a monthly subscription even after cancelling, told HuffPost: “I took the initiative to contact the company via e-mail, phone and Twitter and got contradictory responses. I was told over the phone that my account was canceled, without having to provide a confirmation or account number. When I tweeted, one person said the account was canceled and another told me I had to do it over the phone.”

Many customers like Julia have filed negative reviews across the internet over Fabletics’ allegedly deceptive practices. Another review, posted on the Better Business Bureau site, noted that the Fabletics business model “appears to make membership cancellation near impossible.”
