Women on treadmills in a health clubAnytime you subscribe to something such as a Fabletics VIP Membership, you expect to be able to cancel the subscription. After you notify the company you wish to cancel, you expect that item to be crossed off your to-do list. Many customers have complained that canceling their Fabletics membership was not successful the first time, resulting in further charges on their credit cards.

What Is Fabletics?

Fabletics is an athletic apparel website that promotes VIP Membership, a monthly subscription that holds the customer responsible for choosing clothing every month or for opting out of the month by the fifth of that month. Actress Kate Hudson is one of the company’s founders.

What If I Forget to Opt Out by the Fifth of the Month?

According to the company’s website, your card will be charged the monthly $49.95 fee, but you will have a credit on your Fabletics account for future purchases.

How Do People ‘Accidentally’ Obtain a Fabletics VIP Membership?

Several popular social media sites contain advertisements offering a “50 percent off” or “$24.99 for your first order” deals on Fabletics merchadise. Most of these savings opportunities are only available to those customers who agree to become VIP Members.

The website pushes the VIP program, and if a consumer is convinced to take advantage of the savings, the fact she just signed up for the monthly charge might allude her, or she might believe canceling is as easy as it is presented to be on the site.

Why Would I Continue to be Charged Every Month After I Cancel?

According to several online reviews by unhappy customers, their attempts to cancel a Fabletic subscription were unsuccessful. Some customers said they have tried repeated phone calls and before hanging up, customer service has assured them their memberships were canceled. A month later, however, they say another $49.99 Fabletics charge appears on their credit cards.

What Are Actual Customers Saying about Fabletics?

According to the Better Business Bureau website, an unhappy Fabletics customer named Christine wrote on July 16, 2019, “I cancelled the account and they are still billing me and say I never did, when I had.”

On July 9, 2019, a customer named Jessica wrote on the BBB site that she canceled her subscription on April 11, 2018, but that Fabletics continued to charge her card “at different times and even skipping months.”

Due to banking issues, she wrote she had to change card numbers twice in the past year. Jessica says that her bank told her that Fabletics is able to obtain personal information even after the account is canceled.

Jessica wrote, “So they were getting my new card [numbers] each time and billing me for a subscription I did not even have.”

Will Fabletics Refund Money?

Many consumers say the company is not cooperative about refunding any money. Unhappy customers have reported that, even if the consumer does not wish to buy any more products from Fabletics, the most they can expect is a credit on their Fabletic’s account that can be used towards a future Fabletics purchase.

I ordered five products from fabletics, I canceled the subscription two days after I received the order, now I see a charge for 49.99 from fabletics, the website began to act squarely when I tried to contact someone in chat, so I called the number 24 hours service the girl tried to speak quickly with a thick accent, again I said I canceled it when are they going to send me my money back, she told me two weeks, I told her I want to confirmation email of our conversation she told me 12 to 24 to 48 hours. These people are scam artists and a class action suit should be initiated

My teenaged son got wrapped up in the sale and ended up with a monthly charge. When I balanced the checkbook (my name is on it because he is a minor), I went after them and threatened a lawsuit for going after minors. I was assured that the fees would be refunded, and they were. A couple months later, another fee showed up. That person on the other end of the line got an earful. At this point, I reported the card stolen (technically it was) and got a new one. I can’t believe Kate Hudson would stand behind this type of a scam. My opinion of her has completely changed along with this sham of a company. There should definitely be a class action suit filed to stop this “barely legal” (if you will) company from scamming people and going after anyone including our youth. I’ll be happy to jump on board.

This is happening to me right now too. I cancelled 3 times. The first time was in October 2022. Today I see a charge of $59.99 from them on my bank. This is not good. Something has to happen. People are being stolen from going on for over 3 years.

I did not realize I had two accounts that I was being charged for each month. I called once I realized these charges. The rep said they would cancel my accounts for me and refund me on both of my accounts (7 credits on one 8 on another) and I should see my refund in 5-7 business days. My refund never came and today I received an email from them reminding me my “next member credit is almost here!” I immediately called and told the rep my situation. She said they have no record of me even calling the first time!! I was so shocked and asked her if this has happened before because I gave the rep my email etc. She said she didn’t know but could still assist me in the process…. She also said that she would process a refund so let’s see if I get one in 5-7 business days. As soon as I got off the phone I googled to see if this has happened to anyone else and sure enough it has. This is crazy.

They couldn’t find any vip membership linked to my account, but yet I was being charged. She assured me that I had no membership. I asked what she would do if I was charged again, she just kept insisting that I wouldn’t be. She looked up all of my email addresses, my mailing address and my phone number and couldn’t find anything recent. She said I made and cancelled a purchase in 2020 so I no longer had a membership. But I just made in purchase in august of 2022 and was charged for September, DO NOT tell me that I don’t have a membership!! My persistence paid off because she finally found my account and told me I had an active membership. Once she found that account she asked me what I’d like to do with it!!!!! SERIOUSLY??? I was so confused. Then she tried to convince me not to cancel it because it has great benefits and I have points to use. I declined.
When I asked her how I was going to redeem those points because it wasn’t showing up in the account I had access to, she said she would send me an email to reset my password. She read me my email address and I told her it wasn’t correct. She said to just go and click on the link. AGAIN…I said that it wasn’t the right email address, so there was no way for me to get the link she was sending me. She just told me to log in using the email address she just gave me. Confused?? Yeah, me too. I just gave up and told her forget it, I just want to cancel, I don’t care about my points. We said bye and that was that. But now I think back I’m upset, about the whole situation. So, here I am!

I was double charged for a purchase of $59.65. It was my first purchase with this company. It’s not as much money lost as so many other victims, but the prospect of them continuing to charge me after I’ve already cancelled the membership is terrifying. I called customer service and it was the worst experience I’ve ever had. I’ve honestly had more pleasant calls with PayPal customer service. They INSISTED the second charge was only a hold and will drop off in 48-72 hours, but my bank told me that both charges had already HARD posted to my statement and that the money was gone unless fabletics issues a refund. Fat chance right? Fabletics said that since their system only shows one charge they will not refund anything. So basically, they can charge anything they want without my permission and just claim they didn’t. They treated both me and my bank like we couldn’t tell the difference between a charge and a pre-authorization hold. I immediately cancelled the membership and filed a dispute for the charge through my bank. I will likely be changing my debit card number and hopefully that helps. I encourage everyone else to also file a complain with the better business bureau.

I’ve been charged three times already by this scam of a company. I called to unsubscribe and even remove my mf card from the system, but they keep stealing my money every month. Class action lawsuit would be great.
