Unilever initiates recall for Jolly Rancher popsicles due to undeclared milk

Jolly Rancher popsicle recall overview: 

• Who: Unilever recalled 137,000 cases of single-serve units of the Popsicle Jolly Rancher Frozen Confection Pops.  
• Why: The units marked for individual sale may contain milk, which is not currently listed on the ingredient label.  
• Where: The popsicle recall is active throughout the United States. 

Unilever recalled the single-serve units of the Popsicle Jolly Rancher Frozen Confection Pops. This recall comes after the company found trace amounts of milk allergens in the Jolly Rancher popsicles, according to the recall announcement. 

The recall only includes Jolly Rancher popsicles marked for individual sale and does not include 18-count boxes available at retail stores. The single-serving units are available at grab-and-go freezers, ice cream trucks and concession stands, according to the popsicle recall. 

The recall notice specifies three flavors: green apple, blue raspberry and grape. All impacted units have UPC 077567003720 and are labeled with one of the following lot codes:

• JAN3126KY4

Unilever says there have been two reports of allergic reactions related to the recall. The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Trace amounts of milk may impact those with severe allergies, recall states 

Those who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product, the popsicle recall states. If an individual feels they are experiencing an adverse reaction, they should seek medical attention immediately. 

If consumers or merchants currently have Popsicle Jolly Rancher Frozen Confection Pop single-serve products in their freezer, they should go to www.PopsicleRecall.com or call 888-926-3554 for additional information. The company will issue reimbursements following proof of purchase.  

Jolly Rancher popsicles are not the only product to come under scrutiny for undeclared allergens. Dreyer Grand Ice Cream recalled specific Outshine No Sugar Added bars due to possible milk allergens.
