Melii Baby initiates spoon recall due to choking hazard

Melii Baby issued a recall for more than 85,000 of its silicone spoons for babies over concerns they could break apart while in use, posing a choking hazard. 

The recall involves 6-inch long Melli Baby Silicone Spoons for babies with animal shapes at the handle sold in packs of either three or four and as part of a five-piece silicone feeding set. 

The recalled spoons sold as part of the three-pack have the date code 2024-01 printed on the back, while those in the four-pack have the date codes 2023-12 to 2024-05. The recall includes all spoons in the five-piece silicone feeding set.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled spoons and contact Melii Baby with a picture of the product in the garbage to receive a free replacement set, according to the recall notice. 

Melii Baby received 2 reports of spoons’ tips breaking

Melii Baby says it received two reports of the tips of the recalled spoons breaking, the recall notice states. It has not received any reports of injuries associated with the baby spoon recall. 

Melii Baby sold the recalled spoons at Aldi and Ross and a number of online retailers from April-August 2024 for $8-9.
