Homedics massagers recall overview:

  • Who: Homedics recalled around 46,000 of its Therapist Select Percussion Personal Massagers in the US and an additional 41,000 in Canada.
  • Why: The recall was initiated over concerns the massagers could overheat while being charged, posing fire and burn hazards.
  • Where: The recall impacts consumers in the US and Canada.

Homedics recalled around 46,000 of its Therapist Select Percussion Personal Massagers on Jan. 4 over concerns the devices could overheat while charging, posing fire and burn hazards.

The recall, which also includes about 41,000 massagers sold in Canada, involves HoMedics Therapist Select Massagers sold in the color black with the model number HHP-715 and a date code ending in 20, 21 or 22.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using or charging the recalled massagers and to contact Homedics to receive either a full product refund or a refund in the form of a credit for any Homedics product that would come with a 20% bonus.

Homedics said it has received 17 reports of the recalled massagers overheating, including one report of a burn occurring on a consumers’ thumb.

Recalled Homedics massagers sold nationwide for around $100

The recalled Homedics massagers were sold at Macy’s, The Home Depot, Lowe’s JCPenney, BJ’s Wholesale Club and other retail stores nationwide, as well as online from September 2020 through November 2023 for around $100, according to the Homedics recall.

Individuals with more questions about the recall can contact Homedics directly by telephone at 800-466-3342 or through the company’s website.

A class action lawsuit was filed against Homedics and Walmart in late December by a consumer arguing the companies’ Equate branded blood pressure monitors are consistently inaccurate.
