Dodge Hornets, Alfa Romeo Tonales recall overview:

  • Who: Chrysler issued a recall for more than 36,000 model year 2023-2024 Dodge Hornet and Alfa Romeo Tonale SUVs.
  • Why: The recall was initiated over concerns the vehicles were equipped with inaccurate weight capacity labels, causing vehicle owners to potentially overload them, presenting a crash risk.
  • Where: The recall affects certain Dodge Hornet and Alfa Romeo Tonale SUV owners nationwide.

A new Chrysler recall was issued for more than 36,000 model year 2023-2024 Dodge Hornets and Alfa Romeo Tonales over concerns the vehicles may have been equipped with an inaccurate weight capacity label.

The recall involves 30,061 Dodge Hornet SUVs produced between Aug. 31, 2022, and Feb. 13, 2024, as well as 6,032 Alfa Romeo Tonale SUVs produced between Feb. 9, 2023 and Feb. 10, 2024.

Chrysler is concerned a driver may overload their vehicle as a result of relying on the inaccurate vehicle capacity weight label, which can cause a crash “without prior warning,” the Dodge Hornet and Alfa Romeo Tonale recall states.

Chrysler recall: Automaker to add overlay label to tire placard information on affected vehicles

The automaker said it will remedy the issue by adding an overlay label to the recalled vehicles’ tire placard information. Chrysler also said the recall of the Alfa Romeo Tonales and Dodge Hornets is unrelated to a part defect but rather an “engineering issue where the vehicle was built with incorrect data on the tire placard label.”

Dealers and vehicle owners will be notified about the recall on April 24, 2024, according to the recall.

Last month, Chrysler issued a separate recall for nearly 200,000 of its model year 2021-2024 Jeep Wrangler Plug In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) SUVs and 59,825 2022-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee PHEV SUVs over concerns their windshield defrost systems could become disabled under certain conditions.

  1. Call ME says:

Yes, I am affected by this recall. We bought the car for our family travels. The five of us weigh a total of 1000 lbs. Now that the car is recalled and the carry limit has been decreased to 904 lbs, the car is useless for our family travel. I am looking for a lawyer to sue FCA.
