TJ Maxx Barstools, Infant Bath Seats Recall Overview

  • Who: The US Consumer Product Safety Commision (CPSC) issued a pair of recalls for consumer products.
  • Why: Infant bath seats sold on Amazon and TJ Maxx barstools sold at HomeGoods and HomeSense stores pose a risk to consumers, says the agency.
  • Where: The recalled products were sold throughout the United States.

A consumer protection agency warned of infant bath seats that pose a drowning hazard and TJ Maxx barstools with legs that can break in a pair of recalls issued recently.

TJ Maxx Barstools Collapse

More than 4,000 barstools, also called counter stools, have been recalled after 20 incidents, including 17 injuries, were reported to distributor, TJX, the parent company of TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, and HomeSense.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recall notice warns that the barstools can break or collapse, posing fall or injury risks to consumers.

The barstools were sold between January and May 2021 for approximately $130 at HomeGoods and Homesense stores and HomeGoods/T.J. Maxx or Marshalls combination stores nationwide.

The recalled TJ Maxx barstools come in gray faux leather, and light gray, dark gray and blue/cream herringbone fabrics. They swivel and have wooden legs and a fabric backrest. They measure 36 inches to the top and 25.5 inches from the floor, says the recall notice.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled counter stools and return them to any HomeGoods or Homesense store for their choice of either a full refund or store gift card,” says the TJ Maxx barstools recall notice.

Frieyss Infant Bath Seats Sold on Amazon Recalled

The CPSC says that infant bath seats sold on Amazon fail to meet federal safety standards and pose a risk to babies in a recall notice issued Thursday. The infant bath seats may tip over while in use, posing a drowning hazard, warns the agency.

More than 100 recalled infant bath seats were sold on Amazon between March and April 2021 for approximately $40. The infant bath seats are advertised as suitable for baby ages 6 months to12 months. They are 13 inches wide, 12 inches deep and 8 inches high and made of blue plastic with four green suction cups on the bottom. The have stickers of clouds, a lion, sun, and squirrel holding balloons on the front bar.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled infant bath seats and contact Frieyss for instructions on returning the bath seats with free shipping to receive a full refund,” says the CPSC’s recall notice.

Top Class Actions will continue to monitor these and other product recalls in the interest of consumer safety.
