A recall covering more than 380,000 model year 2010 through 2016 Cadillac SRX and 2011 through 2012 Saab 9-4 SUVs has been issued by General Motors (GM) for a potential problem with the suspension.

The GM recall comes a year after the National Highway Safety Traffic Administration (NHTSA) started investigating after nine complaints, including two involving crashes, were made by owners, reports The Detroit News

The rear suspension toe link adjuster on the recalled SUVs may be loose, says GM in a report to regulators. A lose rear toe link may pose a dangerous vehicle safety problem because the part helps keep the tires on the ground.

GM recall documents note that drivers should park the SUVs if they see warning lights on the dashboard or have issues with steering. Owners can take their recalled SUV to a GM dealership for a free repair.

This is the second time that GM has issued a recall for the suspension problem in many of these SUVs, reports The Detroit News. In September 2014, the automaker initiated the first recall; however, it says that repair shops may not have used the proper procedures to tighten the toe link then, leading to this second recall.

Hundreds of thousands of vehicles have been subject to one recall or another in the past six months, with GM recalling 840,000 trucks and SUVs in December. Some of these vehicles were also recalled for suspension problems, including premature rusting of the rear toe links that can lead to suspension failure.

Top Class Actions will continue to monitor this and other vehicle safety recalls to help keep consumers informed.

Consumers can check to see if their vehicles are a part of the GM SUV recall or another safety defect recall by visiting the NHTSA website and entering their 17-digit vehicle identification number.
