Kia Optima and Sorento vehicles have been recalled for the second time, this time over a fire risk that has prompted the company to ask owners to park outside, away from structures.

The most recent Kia recall covers Optima and Sorentos manufactured at a plant in West Point, Georgia between July 2013 and October 2015. The automaker warns that the brake fluid can leak in these vehicles, causing a short circuit that could lead to an engine fire

Warning signs of an engine fire include a burning smell and/or smoke, said Kia in a report to the National Highway Safety Traffic Administration (NHTSA) released Monday.

The automaker plans to provide owners with an enhanced safety measure. In the meantime, recalled Kia Sorento and Optima vehicles should be parked outside and away from structures to minimize the damage caused by a potential fire.

This is the second recall on these Kia vehicles. In September, approximately 600,000 vehicles in the U.S. and Canada were recalled over concerns that a defect that could cause brake fluid to leak inside a hydraulic control unit. The initial recall affected both Kia and Hyndai vehicles.

Kia initial recall began on October 15, and included almost 450,000 vehicles, inlcuding Kia Optimas produced between 2013 and 2015, as well as Kia Sorentos manufactured between 2014 and 2015.

Owners and lessees will be notified of the second Kia recall starting July 2. Recalled Kia Optima and Sorento vehicles can be brought in to a dealership for a free repair. Owners who have already paid for repairs can contact the company for reimbursement.
