Wolfies jalapeno Peanuts have been recalled over undeclared milk.

Wolfies Roasted Nut Co. has issued a voluntary recall of its Cheddar & Jalapeno Artisan Nuts due to an undeclared milk allergen and undeclared artificial colorings.

The Ohio-based company says that the ingredient label did not list cheese, which contains a milk allergen, or the artificial color additives FD&C Yellow No. 5 and Yellow No. 6, which can also be allergens, according to WTOL.

Although Wolfies Roasted Nut Co. is not currently facing legal action, Top Class Actions monitors product recalls in the interest of consumer safety, and as they can sometimes result in class action lawsuits.

The artisan nuts are packaged in either a 5-oz, 14-oz, or 28-oz black rice paper stand up pouch, or an 80-oz clear bag labeled “Cheddar & Jalapeno” with a Wolfies Roasted Nuts label. The packets were sold at more than 18 locations across Ohio, predominantly in Findlay.

According to WTOL, Wolfies Roasted Nut Co. says that the issue was discovered during a routine inspection by the Ohio Department of Agriculture.

The company says that there have been no reports of illness involving products, but urged people with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk or FD&C Yellow Nos. 5 or 6 to dispose of the nuts or return them for a replacement.

The company said that people with allergies to the products ran the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consumed the nuts.

Last week, Trader Joe’s had to recall three lots of its white corn tortilla chips after they were found to contain undisclosed milk allergens.

Food and dietary products are often subjected to recalls over contamination. Earlier this month, Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals recalled all lots of various dietary supplements over concerns that the products contain allergens not listed on the labels, including milk, eggs, wheat, and soy.

Recently, Torn & Glasser had to issue a recall for 7,464 12-ounce tubs of its dark chocolate espresso beans after finding out the packets actually contained dark chocolate-covered walnuts.
