Two nationwide recalls were recently issued over bed frames that collapse without warning and mattresses that include flammable materials, warns the Consumer Safety Protection Commission (CSPC).
Bed Frame Recall
More than 80,000 HR Platform bed frames were recalled after the company received 100 reports of the product collapsing. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
The collapsing bed frames were sold under the Bed Tech brand between April 2020 through Jan. 2021. The units retailed for approximately $200 each and the recall includes the following model numbers: HR33, HR33XL, HR46, HR50, HR60, and HR66.
The nationwide Bed Tech HR Platform bed frame recall covers twin, twin XL-, full-, queen-, and king-sized frames. Recalled frames are steel and come in black with blue plastic clips.
“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled HR Platform Frames and contact Global Home Imports to receive a free repair kit with metal clips to strengthen the frame,” warns the CSPC notice. “Global Home Imports will ship a kit directly to consumers free of charge.”
The recalled bed frames were sold at American Furniture Warehouse, Mattress Firm, and furniture and mattress stores nationwide by Global Home Imports Inc. and were manufactured in Vietnam.
Consumers with questions can contact Global Home Imports at 888-550-4371 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. MT, Monday through Friday. Consumers can also email the company anytime at or visit its website for more information.
Flammable Mattress Recall
CSPC has also issued a notice over a national recall affecting HOFISH 10-Inch Hybrid Certi-PUR Certified Foam and Pocket Spring Mattresses.
“The mattresses fail to meet the mandatory federal flammability standard for mattresses, posing a fire hazard,” states the recall notice.
The recall affects approximately 700 units. The mattresses were sold between September 2019 and January 2020 for $190 exclusively on Amazon.com.
Recalled HOFISH mattresses include twin, twin XL, full, queen, and king sizes. The HOFISH mattresses in question shipped compressed in a box and with white tag on the bottom that states “Made for HOFISH Inc.” on one side, and “Prototype ID: HF19HY” on the other.
“They are 10-inch, single-sided mattresses with white knit ticking, a blue striped wave design and diamond-shaped quilting on the top surface. The side panels have gray knit ticking. The tape edges are white with white stitching. The bottom panel has gray non-woven ticking,” states the CSPC notice.
Consumers with the recalled mattress should contact HOFISH directly. The company will send a free fitted mattress cover to those who contact HOFISH directly, which will bring the product to compliance, says CSPC.
Consumers can contact HOFISH toll-free at 888-731-2419 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. MT, Monday through Friday with questions. Consumers may also contact the company by email or view its website or more information.
