The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) sent out millions in payments in March to thousands of consumers affected by fraudulent schemes and product misrepresentations.

Trudeau Refunds

The FTC is sending around 33,000 payments via PayPal to consumers who purchased Kevin Trudeau’s book “The Weight Loss Cure ‘They’ Don’t Want You To Know About.”

Trudeau allegedly used false claims to market his book through infomercials between December 2006 and November 2007. After ruling that the author falsely advertised his book, the court ordered him to refund his customers.

However, Trudeau refused to tell the court where his money was. Refunds were distributed from the funds acquired in June 2016, August 2017, August 2020, and now in April 2022. If the FTC finds the money owed by Trudeau they may issue additional payments.

Consumers who receive a PayPal payment from the FTC have 30 days to accept it. If Trudeau customers prefer to receive their payment through a check, they can contact the administrator.

Vision Solution Marketing Refunds

The FTC is sending a third round of 999 checks to consumers as part of a settlement with Vision Solution Marketing.

Checks are being sent to consumers who paid Vision Solution Marketing for business coaching services.

Vision Solution Marketing allegedly promised consumers that its business coaching service could help them build a business and earn thousands of dollars per month. In reality, customers allegedly failed to develop a functioning business, did not earn money, and even ended up in debt as a result of the scheme.

Vision Solution Marketing agreed to settle these claims and two previous rounds of checks in July 2019 and April 2021 distributed $1.5 million to affected consumers. Now, the FTC is issuing another round of 999 checks worth over $76,000.

Consumers who receive a check from the FTC as part of the Vision Solution Marketing settlement should cash their check with 90 days.

Further questions about these refunds can be directed to Rust Consulting Inc. at 1-877-456-1189.

Digital Altitude FTC Refund Payments

Consumers affected by Digital Altitude business coaching could receive checks from an FTC settlement.

The FTC is sending payments to over 7,600 consumers who lost money as a result of Digital Altitude’s business coaching scheme.

Digital Altitude allegedly convinced consumers to pay for tiered memberships in exchange for business coaching advice to help them build an online business. Participants were allegedly promised that they could make substantial income based on advice from successful marketers. Instead, the FTC contends, mentors were simply salespeople offering higher membership levels.

The FTC sent previous payments in February 2021 totaling $3.4 million in refunds. With the remaining funds, the FTC is sending out $1.1 million in payments to over 7,600 consumers who accepting their first payments.

Consumers who receive a PayPal payment should accept it in 30 days or cash their check within 90 days.

Consumers with additional questions can contact JND Legal Administration at 833-961-3292.

Student Debt Relief Group Refunds

The FTC is sending a second round of checks to consumers who lost money as a result of student debt relief schemes.

Checks are being sent to consumers who were duped by student debt relief schemes from businesses operating under the following names: Student Debt Relief Group, SDRG, Student Loan Relief Counselors, SLRC, StuDebt, and Capital Advocates Group. Consumers will receive checks if they paid more than $1,000 to the companies.

The FTC claims these companies misled consumers into thinking they were credible debt relief programs affiliated with the Department of Education. Instead of providing honest debt relief, the companies allegedly charged illegal upfront fees to help consumers participate in free programs.

The companies also charged monthly fees which they falsely claimed would be used to pay off student debt, the FTC contends.

The first round of payments in the related settlement were sent in February 2021 and provided over $1.5 million in refunds. With the additional funds, the FTC is sending a second round of checks worth $167,000.

Payments may be sent as PayPal payments or physical checks. Consumers have 90 days to cash their checks or 30 days to accept their PayPal payments.

Additional questions can be directed to JND Legal Administration at 833-961-3421.

National Urological Group Refunds

A fourth round of checks is being sent to consumers who purchased supplements from National Urological Group.

The FTC is sending checks to consumers who purchased two weight-loss supplements, Thermalean and Lipodrene, or an erectile dysfunction treatment, Spontane-ES, from National Urological Group Inc. and other related companies.

According to the FTC, these supplements were marketed with decieving claims about efficacy and safety. The federal regulator claims consumers were misled by this marketing and purchased the supplements based on false promises.

The FTC previously sent $12 million in refunds to consumers who purchased the supplements. Now, the agency is sending an additional $2.7 million to 102,938 consumers.

Individuals who receive a check from this settlement should cash it within 90 days.

If consumers have further questions about these refunds, they can contact Epiq Systems at 877-483-2883.

Bronx Honda Refunds

The FTC is sending out a second round of checks to consumers affected by discriminatory lending practices at a Bronx Honda location.

Checks are being sent to 3,376 people who purchased a vehicle from Bronx Honda and were discriminated against on the basis of their race.

The FTC contends Bronx Honda regularly discriminated against African-American and Hispanic customers, charging these buyers higher prices for vehicles, charging more in fees, failing to honor sales prices, and causing other financial harm. According to the FTC, these practices were unlawful and discriminatory.

The first round of checks were sent in November 2020 and provided $1.2 million in refunds. Now, the FTC is distributing a second round of checks worth $200,000 to 3,376 consumers who cashed their first checks.

Individuals who receive a check from this settlement should cash it within 90 days.

Any additional questions can be directed to JND Legal Administration at 888-921-0727.

Western Union Refunds

Consumers affected by Western Union’s wire fraud scheme can file a claim to receive a second round of remission checks.

Payments are available to individuals who fell victim to Western Union’s wire fraud scheme between Jan. 1, 2004, and Jan. 19, 2017.

According to the FTC, Western Union facilitated wire-fraud schemes in which fraudsters posed as family members, lotteries, sweepstakes, and love interests in order to receive large sums of money. Victims in these schemes were allegedly told to wire their money through Western Union.

The FTC collected $586 million from Western Union as part of a deferred prosecution agreement. A first round of remission payments distributed $366 million to over 148,000 people. Now, a second round of remission payments is available to affected consumers.

In order to receive a payment from this second round of remission, consumers need to submit a remission petition by July 1, 2022.

Further questions can be directed to the administrator at 1-844-319-2124.
