Huuuge Casino gaming apps on smartphone

UPDATE: October 2020, the Huuuge Casino class action settlement is now open. Click here to file a claim.

Players who filed a class action lawsuit against the company behind the popular smartphone game Huuuge Casino are poised to walk away from the table with $6.5 million in winnings.

Lawyers for lead plaintiff Sean Wilson and the rest of the Class filed a request in U.S. District Court in Tacoma, Washington on Aug. 23 seeking preliminary approval for a settlement they worked out with Huuuge Inc. The agreement would put to rest claims that the company illegally charged players of its Huuuge Casino, Billionaire Casino and Stars Casino games for game chips.

Under the terms of the proposed settlement, an estimated 1,000 Class Members from Washington would recover as much as 50% of their lifetime spending amount, depending on their individual game playing history, and likely not less than 10% of their lifetime spending amount.

Wilson would get as much as $10,000 as an “incentive award” for taking up the case. The other Class representatives could get as much as $1,000 each.

The total proposed settlement amount is “no matter how sliced or diced, a massive recovery,” the plaintiffs wrote to the court in their request for settlement approval.

Plaintiffs’ legal fees will also be paid out of the settlement. That cost is not specifically calculated in the proposal, but the lawyers for the plaintiffs said they would seek no more than 30% of the total award plus expenses.

The company will provide access to gambling addiction resources in the games, according to the agreement. It will also create a “comprehensive self-exclusion policy” that will allow players to restrict themselves from gameplay. Links to access the self-exclusion option must be “prominently available” in Huuuge Casino and the other games, the settlement proposal says.

Finally, when players run out of virtual chips while playing Huuuge Casino and the other casino games, they will be allowed to continue playing at least one game in the app without having to buy more chips or wait for a new supply of free chips to continue.

Wilson filed the class action lawsuit against Huuuge Inc. in April 2018, claiming the company was operating an illegal gambling operation in Washington state that also violated consumer protection laws.

In Huuuge Casino, for example, the company gives first-time players an amount of free game chips to play with. If the players lose all the chips through wagering, the app prompts them to buy more chips – starting at $4.99 for 100,000,000 chips – to continue playing. Once purchased, the players can use the chips to place bets in the casino games. Through those bets, the players have the chance to win more chips, which constitutes gambling, the class action lawsuit argued.

Three months after the lawsuit was filed, lawyers for Huuuge Inc. asked the court to force the plaintiffs into arbitration.

In a motion filed in July 2018, the gaming company said the terms of use for Huuuge Casino games included a stipulation that required users to submit to arbitration to mediate legal disputes and prohibited them from filing lawsuits. The Court refused to compel the plaintiffs to arbitrate, saying the games’ terms of use were inconspicuous and there was no evidence the lead plaintiff was aware of them.

Huuuge Inc. appealed that decision to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, which also refused to force arbitration on the case. The appeals panel said anyone who downloaded the Huuuge Casino games apps would have to have “Sherlock Holmes’ instincts” to find the terms of use.”

“When downloading the app, the Terms are not just submerged – they are buried twenty thousand leagues under the sea,” the panel of judges wrote. And “once the user unearths” the terms, “the page does not even inform the user that he will be bound by those terms.”

The two sides began settlement negotiations in May and participated in a day-long mediation session with now retired Judge Layn R. Phillips before the final “pioneering” agreement was reached, the request for settlement approval says.

“Particularly in the midst of a pandemic-driven recession, these recoveries will be life-changing for many Class Members,” the motion says. “Importantly, the settlement further requires Huuuge to implement meaningful prospective relief, including by providing addiction-related resources within their social casino games and by creating and honoring a comprehensive self-exclusion policy. Because this settlement is fair, reasonable, and adequate, the Court should not hesitate to approve it.”

So are you in the lawsuit

  2. Dawn Large says:

I am also embarrassed to say I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on chips. The game is absolutely rigged to their benefit. They make it impossible to finish levels without purchasing chips.
A newby can buy 500B chips for 9.99 but because I’m at a higher level the same chips cost me 99.99. Also higher levels are forced to a minimum bet of 50B, so for 99.99 I get 10 spins.
    Absolute BS.
    Add me please

  3. Keith Overly says:

I am both on huge casino and billionaire casino and have been robbed the more you purchased the more you lose the algorithms are definitely set to screw you how do you bet a thousand times the same little amount and never hit and then sometimes when you’re not spending money they give you all kind of wins it’s rigged add me to the lawsuit

  4. Zachary says:

I’ve let this game take alot of my money, very embarrassing! Please add me!

  5. Sean W Carmichael says:

I’m embarrassed to admit that I allowed myself to be swindled by these crooks.

  6. Christine says:

I am embarrassed to admit that I have spent tens of thousands. My biggest frustration is that the offers they give you are based on your previous spending habits. You can actually get “locked in” to where you can’t even make a chip purchase unless it’s 199.00 or over!
I have asked to have all dollar amounts available to all players.
To me, this is the biggest aggregation. Where on this earth does a land based casino tell one player you can buy chips at 14.99 and another (VIP albeit) you can only buy in at 199.00 or more. The players at the higher levels have a much harder targets to reach. We are constantly lured with little bonus and promos. All this knowingly feeding into the addictive tendencies of their loyal players. That is just ridiculous and should be illegal! Yet, I continue to play. Shame on both I guess.
There is so much more…let’s talk!

    1. P says:

To get lower dollar amounts to appear buy the 99 cents of bronze tickets a couple times, then it will reduce you minimum and maximum purchase amounts

As far as the lawsuit, you are too late to file a claim and it is only for Washington state residents.

  7. Linda hensley says:

Huuuge and Billionaire are both online casinos in business to entertain and to make money. myself and everyone else knows they don’t get money for their play and it provides only entertainment. Odds of winning are just like land casinos, very slim. The thing they need to improve is support. I sometimes get no answer from them at all and sometimes get a response in a week or two. My most recent is where I purchases 14.99 in chips and was supposed to get 20 bronze tickets and a charm pack on huuuge casino and never got it. On the same account a couple weeks ago, if you got 11 huge wins on a certain game, you would be given 1.2b plus a charm pack, which I completed the challenge and never got the reward. Texted support and never heard back. So, they need to do what they say they are going to do and improve support.

  8. Paulette says:

I have also spent money on huuge casino. At first they give you chips, diamonds, and deals however once your hooked they don’t give you anything besides a negative bank account. In the beginning you win constantly however the higher your player gets the less likely you are to win. There constantly sending you notifications and there good at luring you in. I feel like ever since covid hit and people are stuck at home the slots have gotten tighter. It seems like they’ve taken advantage of us and it’s sad. I would love to be part of this lawsuit. Please consider me, thank you

  9. T. Green says:

They need to get it sorted out has they not listen to the court has for 6.5 million that is a drop in the sea to them has they’re still ripping people off specially with the Covid-19 and some people have to stay indoors so they will cash in on this so it would be nice if they was took to court in every country then they might listen which they just throw money like they did this time . Plus the support keep telling everyone that send a message about the game all you get is it a real casino which I point out on a few times then where can we cash the chips out then if it a real casino

  10. Patricia LaFollette says:

I have requested to be blocked from the game, I’m not vblocked and I have spent about $20k, maybe more. It’s rigged with code and players that work for Huuuge. I am bummed the class acton recently settled only includes Washington Residents. I’d like to start a class action against Huuuge!! Also the adervtised promotional packages they sell are falsely advertised…. I do not receive the minimum value of the items stated in the package. Huuuge’s customer service and my VIP rep feed me lines of BS and never answer or resolve me not getting what i paid for. When I request refunds from Google, they deny it saying it’s not in line with their refund poilcy so they wont give me my money back. Google is allowing this developer to defraud their customers, it’s disgusting.
