Players of the social casino games Huuuge Casino, Billionaire Casino and Stars Slots may be able to recoup some of their in-app purchases of virtual chips along with a portion of a $6.5 million class action settlement.

Those who may benefit from the Huuuge Casino, Billionaire Casino and Stars Slots class action settlement include individuals who played the games prior to Aug. 30, 2020.

The Huuuge Casino, Billionaire Casino and Stars Slots class action lawsuit claimed Huuuge Inc., the maker of various online slot games and apps, duped consumers into in-app purchases by offering so-called free-to-play casino games, such as slots, blackjack and poker. The complaint alleged that the app developer violated Washington state laws regarding “games of chance.”

A 2018 class action lawsuit alleged that Huuuge preyed upon consumers susceptible to gambling addictions with their free-to-play games.

According to the complaint, users were offered free chips to start playing various casino games. Once they ran out of chips, they were reportedly offered a supposed deal on thousands of more chips at a special rate to keep playing. Chips were allegedly sold for between $4.99 and $49.99 at a time.

The plaintiff says the app developer sought to exploit “the same psychological triggers as casino operators” by skirting Washington gambling laws. According to the complaint, while the majority of players do not spend money on in-app purchases, those that do spend significant amounts of money.

The class action lawsuit alleged that the players who spent money on Huuuge Casino and other gaming apps are known as “whales” in the industry and account for more than 50% of online gaming revenue.

Allegedly, the app developer exploited the tendency of certain players to “get hooked” with the initial offering of free chips and spend real money on the games that mimic gambling games in casinos.

Huuuge attempted to send the class action lawsuit to arbitration, but was denied by a federal court judge. Additionally, the company added a pop-up window requiring players to agree to arbitration as the class action lawsuit was pending.

Huuuge Casino denied any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $6.5 million in a settlement agreement to end the class action lawsuit.

In addition, the app developer has agreed to include resources for Washington residents regarding video game disorders within its apps. It will also offer an option for users to exclude themselves from the game. Further, players will be able to keep playing the games for free, without needing to purchase additional chips, under the terms of the agreement.

“Based on their comprehensive examination and evaluation of the law and facts relating to the matters at issue, Class Counsel have concluded that the terms and conditions of this Agreement are fair, reasonable, and adequate to resolve the alleged claims of the Settlement Class and that it is in the best interests of the Settlement Class Members to settle,” the settlement agreement states.

Class Members can claim a cash award, the total amount depending on the total dollar amount of in-app game purchases they made, whether their claim is subject to an arbitration provision and the total number of valid claims filed in the settlement. Class Members can get an estimate of their payment by visiting the settlement website.

Claim forms can be submitted online or by mail. A Notice ID and Confirmation Code, available on personalized Settlement Notices, is required. Alternatively, Class Members who did not receive a notice must provide their contact information and are asked to provide their Player ID number, available in the settings menu in the apps they used.

Claim forms must be submitted by Nov. 30, 2020.

The deadline to opt out of or object to the class action settlement is also Nov. 30, 2020. The final hearing is scheduled for Jan. 7, 2021.

  1. Richard Owens says:

I think Mr Wilson should start another class action lawsuit against huuuge they are still scamming people out of their money I know they got me for hundreds of dollars I sure would like to sue them

    1. Helen Carter says:

I agree Richard. I wish I could say that I only spent hundreds. I have spent 10’s of thousands. They trick you into it. Make it sound like you are getting a great deal. Don’t get me started on the scam they do for collecting charms. I have complained over and over again about spending thousands time after time and not getting any new charms. 9 and 10 purchases in a row and no new charms. They say it is “random” They dangle these huge amounts of chips that they will give you if you complete them. They also “randomly” have some players that need to complete 17 sets of charms to win the big prize of completing the album. My account however i found out on accident that I have 25 sets to complete. Causing me…well wooing me to spend more to complete them. It is very addictive and they make it seem so appealing. “Your team needs you” “Reach the top of the Conquest” “Become a Champion and complete charm sets” I could go on. They do need another lawsuit. I just missed that Class action.

      1. Helen Carter says:

    1. Sandy Campolongo says:

I think they handled the case wrong, they should have proved how tokens and jackpots are auto generated to masters league and diamond league. LOOK into huuuge team in masters, been in masters for 4 years..

  3. Tammy says:

Thank you to the long hard work of the attorneys. It is well appreciated.. it came at a crucial time in my life and honestly saved me. My husband passed away April 13 2021 after getting Covid then the hospital turning his oxygen up to high, which ended him on a ventilator only to die 3 days later. This left me in a bad face financial situation. This class action honestly saved me and my house. Thank you very much. God sure works in mysterious ways.

  4. Amanda says:

I, also, did not know about this lawsuit. I live in WV and have spent probably $15k. Is there anything I can do?

    1. P says:

That is why you did not know about this settlement. This is for Washington state residents only. Maybe some day WV will have their own settlement. Online gambling is not legal in Washington.

    2. Verified says:

      From the claims form…

 You are a Settlement Class Member if you played Huuuge Casino, Billionaire Casino, Stars Slots, and/or other
Huuuge Social Casino Games in the State of Washington on or before Preliminary Approval of the Settlement

NOTE is says in the state of Washington.

    3. Lisa says:

I got my check today, I was notified last Friday that it was being processed and it showed up in my bank account this morning. I can’t tell you how awesome that is! Thank you Sean Wilson and comp.!!

  5. Emily Valentine says:

I am a class member but received
a denial email. The link to respond to the denial does not work. I have emailed directly to a different address with proof of my being a part of the class but I don’t know if they’ve gotten my response email? None of the links in the email that they sent to me work.

    1. Mario says:

I receive a mail Maybe this is a joke they say that i dont spending money Please note the Lifetime Spending Amount listed below is not your Settlement Payment. The Lifetime Spending amount will be used to determine your Settlement Payment as described in the Plan of Allocation available on the settlement website listed above.

Claim Status: Denied, Lifetime Spend Equals Zero

      1. P says:

You have to live in Washington state. This was not a nationwide class action.

    2. P says:

Do you live in Washington state? This lawsuit was only for Washington state residents. Remember before you dispute that you are signing under penalty of perjury.

      1. P says:

It did say in in the claim submission. You known the one you have to submit under penalty of perjury.

      2. P says:

        You are VERY misinformed.

      3. P says:

You are VERY misinformed. This is why ONLY Washington residents received the original notice of this class action.
Check with the Administrator, before you start telling me I am spreading crap. Fact is, I KNOW 100% that I am correct. .

      4. P says:

I am 100% positive you must reside in WA. It was even on the claim submission that you sign under penalty of perjury. Ask th claims Administrayor, you will see that you are the one spreading crap and likely filing false claims.

      5. Lisa says:

It does say for Washington state only. It’s stated that on every single notice I received even though they sent it to my address in Washington. If you read all the details for signing up to be apart of it you will see it.

      6. Marilyn says:

Very unfair that area restricted. I am in South Africa and have also been ripped off by Huuuge Casino
