A recall has been made on more than 390,000 hyundai vehicles.

Hyundai has announced two recalls totaling more than 390,000 vehicles in the United States and Canada, over concerns two separate issues could lead to engine fires.

The largest recall includes more than 203,000 2013-2015 Santa Fe Sport SUVs, some of which are being recalled for a second time. The vehicles have raised safety concerns due to leaking brake fluid which can cause an electrical short and spark a fire in the anti-lock brake computer, CBS News reports.

So far, the issue has caused 18 fires in the US, but no injuries.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is urging vehicle owners to park their SUVs outside away from structures until the issue is fixed, which will be completed by dealers replacing a fuse and the computer system if necessary. Vehicle owners will be notified in June, CBS News says.

“Hyundai is conducting this new recall to ensure the safety of its customers,” the company said in a statement.

In the second recall, Hyundai is recalling almost 187,000 of its 2019 and 2020 Elantras, and 2019 through 2021 Konas and Velosters – all models with two-liter engines.

The company says that piston rings in the vehicles may not have been properly heat treated, which can lead to chipping that scuffs the engine cylinder. The problem can cause engine damage, oil leaks, and possible fires, CBS News reports.

So far, the problem has caused five fires, but no injuries, the company says.

Vehicles owners will be notified in late-June about remedies. Hyundai dealers will inspect vehicles and replace the engine if necessary, and will install piston noise sensing software, CBS News reports.

In March, Hyundai reached a settlement with consumers over numerous class action lawsuits that claimed that the automaker ignored and even denied repairs to certain vehicles with engine defects that led to car fires.

The engine defect class action settlement provides the following benefits to Class members: warranty extension, reimbursement for past repairs, reimbursement for expenses from past repairs, compensation for a sold or trade-in vehicle, compensation for loss of vehicle to engine fine, rebate program for trade-ins, and an informational pamphlet.

Hyundai is also facing a new class action lawsuit over allegations its popular and high-end Palisade SE, SEL, and Limited emit such a strong, foul smell in the cabin it makes some passengers nauseous.
