Ford Fusion Transmission Class Action Lawsuit:

  • Who: Drivers have lodged a class action lawsuit against Ford Motor Company.
  • What: The drivers say a Ford Fusion transmission problem can cause sudden shaking, violent jerking, and difficulty stopping the vehicles.
  • Where: The plaintiffs seek to represent Ford Fusion owners nationwide.

A Ford Fusion transmission problem can allegedly cause sudden shaking, violent jerking, and difficulty stopping according to a new nationwide class action lawsuit.

The 841-page lawsuit was filed recently against Ford Motor Company in a Michigan federal court, CarComplaints reports.

In it, plaintiffs allege that Ford Fusion transmission problems cause unexpected shaking, violent jerking, bucking and kicking on acceleration, delayed acceleration, gears slipping, difficulty stopping the vehicle, and lack or loss of motive power.

The lawsuit alleges most of the problems come from Fusion 6F35 transmissions found in all automatic, non-hybrid Fusions from 2013 and later. The issue also allegedly affects many 2010-2012 Ford Fusions.

Ford Fusion Transmission Problems Pose a Dangerous Vehicle Safety Issue

The plaintiffs say motorist safety has been endangered due to the issues, and a Ford Fusion recall should have been issued a long time ago.

According to the lawsuit, Ford knew in 2009 the Fusion transmission problems existed but didn’t tell drivers about the alleged defects.

The affected drivers say they brought their cars to dealerships to fix the transmission problems, but there were no adequate solutions available.

Fiesta Owners May Experience Similar Ford Fusion Transmission Problems

Meanwhile, Ford drivers who had a 2011-2016 Ford Fiesta or a 2012-2016 Ford Focus may also lodge a class action lawsuit; they have experienced serious problems with their vehicles after getting the $1095 “Powershift” transmission or Dual Clutch upgrade, according to the law firm representing plaintiffs in the Fusion case.

In the Fiesta and Focus case, the transmission system that replaces a traditional automatic transmission was marketed to consumers as providing more efficient and fast shifting of gears, the firm says.

However, the Ford Focus and Fiesta vehicles equipped with the “Powershift” transmission or Dual Clutch are allegedly prone to problems that include transmission shuddering, slipping, jerking, loss of motive power, difficulty stopping, and other issues.

Ford was established in 1901 and has since expanded to become an internationally known household name that sells both commercial vehicles under the Ford brand, and the majority of luxury vehicles under the Lincoln brand.

Over the years the automaker has faced backlash from consumers, with many lawsuits and class action lawsuits resulting from allegations regarding the manufacturer’s operations. These allegations have ranged from claims of malfunctioning brake systems to manual transmission defects, frozen door locks, and more.

  1. Jessica says:

I also have the same transmission issues with my car. Not even over 100,000 miles and it’s getting worse. When I got the car I assumed it wasn’t a big deal because the jerking wasn’t very noticeable but now it’s almost as if it gives me whiplash. It’s said and if they knew of the issue but still allowed them to be put on the market is shameful.

  2. Shyanne M says:

All the same issues! It’s terribly scary when you have a child in the car

I have a 2016 Ford Fusion that I bought a year ago. It has been nothing but trouble. My spark plugs keep seizing up in the heads, jerks, transmission defects, having trouble accelerating

  5. Clifford L. Gray says:

My 2018 Fusion with 77000 miles began shifting rough about 5000 miles ago. Feels like the selector can’t decide if it wants the next gear, or wants to stay in regular gear. Normally does this while shifting, or when climbing a hill.

    1. Meta Bales says:

My 2016 Ford Fusion Transmission was slipping at 30 thousand miles and the color was dark like oil. After paying over $300.00 to service it still under warranty, they told me to bring it back in another 20 thousand miles to do it again because it was still dark like oil. Plus my Emergency brake comes on when I am in driving motion it is freaking me out. I have called the Ford Company and gotten nowhere. I need help.

08 Ford Fusion had complete brake failure. Ford replaced recall part, still no brakes. Now saying pay us 1500.00 we will replace master cylinder and hydraulic pump. Others with exact same issue after recall part replaced. Oh and charged me 219.00 to diagnose if the recall part was bad.

  8. Tiffanie McMath says:

  9. Mario says:

I have a 2017 Ford Fusion SE and recently had to replace my transmission which cost me $3100 for a used one. Unfortunately due to my car being down until I could come up with the money I lost my job of 15 years. If anyone can help steer me in the right direction on the class action lawsuit, I would greatly appreciate it.

  10. Margy Becerra Nieto says:
