Kia, Chevrolet, GMC, and Mazda sedans, hatchbacks, and trucks have all been recalled this week after serious vehicle safety issues were reported.

Mazda Shattering Logo

Model year 2004 through 2007 Mazda3 sedans and hatchbacks have been recalled because the steering wheel emblem may shatter if the airbag is deployed, potentially showering the driver with sharp fragments in a crash, according to Consumer Reports

Eight reports of shattering Mazda emblems have been made, and two lawsuits filed, by drivers who say they were harmed.

Mazda reportedly says that the emblems were made with subpar material that can become brittle over time.

Owners can bring their Mazda3 to a dealership for a free repair or replacement.

Chevrolet, GMC Trucks May Short-Circuit

GM is reportedly recalling 2017-2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra diesel-powered heavy-duty trucks. The more than 300,000 recalled trucks are equipped with an engine block heater and, according to Consumer Reports, an optional heater cord can short circuit.

A remedy is not yet available and GM is reportedly asking owners to turn of the feature and is offering replacement block heaters and cords.

Kia K5 Steering Assist Problems

A communication fault has led to the recall of more than 800 model year 2021-2022 Kia K5 sedans.

The recalled Kia K5 vehicles comes with a 2.5L T-GDI engine and, according to Consumer Affairs, the Rack-Mounted Motor Driven Power Steering system fails to properly catch communication faults. If the communication fault occurs while the Kia K5 is being driven, then the steering assist feature can malfunction. Drivers can find themselves unexpectedly needing to increase their steering effort, increasing the risk of an accident.

Kia will update the steering system software free of charge.

Top Class Actions will continue to monitor this and other vehicle safety recalls to help keep consumers informed.

Consumers can check to see if their vehicles are a part of the GM SUV recall or another safety defect recall by visiting the NHTSA website and entering their 17-digit vehicle identification number.

Don’t understand why I wasn’t part of this lawsuit, I was a subprime borrower in the qualifying time frame. I’ve been paying on my vehicle for almost 3 years and haven’t touched the principal, having issues with the car that I can’t afford to get addressed because the payments and interest rate are astronomical!! Need help! I have $13000 in negative equity as it stands and it is only getting higher as time goes on! I tried to refinance and nobody will touch it with the high balance and miles. Why didn’t I get a postcard to be added to this lawsuit?? Please Add Me!
