Wyndham call recording settlement

Wyndham Hotels and Resorts has agreed to pay $7.3 million to resolve allegations that the company recorded the phone conversations of potential guests without their notice or consent.

Plaintiff Joyce Roberts filed the Wyndham class action lawsuit in 2012 over claims that California state laws were violated when resort phone calls were transferred to an Aegis-operated call center who allegedly didn’t inform consumers that the calls were being recorded.

The Wyndham call recording settlement covers the following hotels: Wyndham Rewards, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Wyndham Grand Hotels and Resorts, Wyndham Garden Hotels, Travelodge, Ramada, Knights Inn, Wingate, Days Inn, Super 8, Baymont, Hawthorn, Microtel or Tryp.

However, only phone calls routed to an Aegis call center are covered under the Wyndham class action settlement.

Those individuals who wish to object or be excluded from the settlement must do so no later than Aug. 18, 2016.

I posted back in August. I just received an e-mail that my claim was not valid. They couldn’t have told me this in september or october? Congrats to the approved claimants

I received my check in CA for $462.44! Letter indicates that there’s a second check coming later this month. My husband also filed and he was told that his was denied due to his number was not listed as one that was called.

    1. Concerned Calif says:

Hi Sunny…..did he receive a letter saying he was denied or did he call and find out? I filed but i honestly don’t know if i was routed thru there aegis call center or whatever, but i did talk to Wyndham during the time period the class action is for.

      1. Bianca says:

i e-mailed rust over the weekend and was told today that my claim was denied since my number wasn’t on the list. they never sent a denial letter.

        1. Concerned Calif says:

Thanks Bianca!!! guess i’ll wait and see what happens. If nothing shows up by Friday then i know i wasnt routed thru aegis. Sorry you got denied =(

      2. PSunny says:

Hi. I actually emailed them and provided his claim number and I got a response a day later indicating that his number was not on the list. I had 2 phone numbers listed on my claim so I guess one of them was on the list.

  4. Rebecca says:

  6. Fox says:

I’m in shock!!! I received a denial letter in August 2016 !!! Today I received 2 checks for $462.44 each. It stated that this was the first payment (check dated 12/30/16). The second check will be mailed Jan. 2017. GOD is awesome. I lost my job. This gift is the amount of $$ I would be bringing home if I was still employed. I cried my heart out tonight with gratefulness and joy.

    1. Fox says:

      I live in NC !!!!!!!!!!

  7. Brianna says:

Today I checked my mail and my first check of $462.44 came today! I lived in California when the call happened but I now live out of state due to my husband being military. I am in North Carolina now.

  8. In California says:

Rec’d the first of the two checks in California today, $462.44.

    1. greg says:

Thanks for this info! Did your letter say when the second check is being mailed?

      1. George says:

        Nice did u have proof

    2. Patricia Johnson says:

      Received my check also. 462.44.

  9. not for sure says:

    Anyone get a check yet..

    1. greg says:

checks shouldn’t arrive to california for another day or two. There were 41 or so out of state claim form s that were accepted. Those closer to the midwest should receive their checks today

      1. Cynthia says:

Not so. I’m in CA and I received mine today. Yay!!!!

  10. not for sure says:

Mailed tomorrow.. Tracking and routing Saturday…no mail on Monday…probably early as Wednesday or Thursday at the latest…depending on the mail person…good luck to us who filed a timely and valid claim…happy holidays…

    1. George says:

Please lord Ganesha send me some check!

      1. Patty says:

Only about 5,000 claims were approved. Time to grab some popcorn and wait for all the angry people complaining about not getting free money from a settlement they didn’t qualify for. Lol

        1. Iris says:

less than 5k claims were approved. 5k is the number of CALLS approved. There are people who have more than one call.

          1. Iris says:

I think the actual number of potentially approved claim forms at the last court hearing was 3,300 for 7,500 calls. 2,000 or so calls were removed from that final number, so it’s safe to assume that the number of approved claim forms also dropped. And before the “rust kept the money” people come in, the amount per call at the last hearing was $650. The removed calls bumped it up to $924
