Synchrony Bank will pay $2.6 million as part of a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims it violated federal telemarketing laws by placing calls to customers about accounts they didn’t own.
The settlement benefits consumers who received a call from Synchrony Bank or one of its agents using an artificial or prerecorded voice since Oct. 16, 2020, where the call concerned a Synchrony Bank account that didn’t belong to the call recipient.
Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit accused Synchrony of placing calls to consumers without their consent regarding accounts that did not belong to them. These calls allegedly violated the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
Synchrony Bank operates private-label credit cards for retailers such as Verizon, Lowe’s and more.
Synchrony hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $2.6 million class action lawsuit to resolve these TCPA allegations.
Under the terms of the Synchrony Bank settlement, class members can receive an equal share of the net settlement fund.
According to the settlement website, payments are estimated to be between $35 and $140. However, exact payments will vary depending on the number of participating class members and the amount deducted for various fees and costs.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is March 15, 2023.
The final approval hearing for the Synchrony Bank calls settlement is scheduled for April 25, 2023.
In order to receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by March 30, 2023.

Has this claim been paid to claimants?
I received a email stating my line of credit has been decreased based on the fact that my house was sold in February of this year. I have never heard of this happening before. I did have two late payments in January and February but have paid my balance in full 3 of the last 6 months. Is there a lawsuit regarding this issue. If so, I would like to be part of it!
Please add me to the list. Synchrony bank has charged me a $40 late fee six times. One was late, one! The others were early! I pay on the phone and write down when I pay and how much I pay. The website, Rocket, helped me see all of my supposed late payments. They did absolutely nothing for me!! They are purposely changing the dates of the payment due date so they can collect an extra $40. I am sure that I am not the only one. Absolutely appalling!
Add me I get called all day abound 4 times and they closed my account due to my credit score changing
I have received several telemarking calls saying. I OWE THEM MONEY FROM PAYPAL ACCT. I HAVE NEVER APPLIED OR HAD A PAYPAL CREDIT CARD OR PURCHASED ANYTHING. THEY REPORTED IT TO CREDIT BUREAU. I CALLED THEM ND told them I had no card or never had one or made any purchases they took it off after 20 calls. Now they reported it as a lost or stolen card and hit my credit 60 pts. O had already mauled them copies oof paypal account. Showing 0 purchases and 0 balance. Now II have to start all over with a dispute and another 20 calls. What recourse do I have from this fraudulent abuse?
Just trying to understand the lawsuit, I receive on average 2 to 4 calls per day, Monday thru Friday starting about 8am. Never fails and they don’t always leave a message but it’s always prerecorded
please add me
I got a bill from them that I know nothing about. Called them and told them . They tried their best to get my ss#. I didn’t give it to them.
