Sylvania headlight class action settlement

Consumers who purchased certain types of Sylvania headlights may be eligible for compensation from a class action settlement that resolves allegations Sylvania misrepresented the performance of some of its premium automotive lighting.

The Sylvania headlight class action lawsuit was initially filed in 2011 and alleged Sylvania overstated the brightness, road visibility and life expectancy of some of its premium headlights. Sylvania reportedly sold as many as 60 million replacement headlights during the Class Period.

Sylvania denies the allegations but agreed to settle the false advertising class action lawsuit to avoid the risk and uncertainty of continued litigation.

You are a Class Member of the Sylvania headlights class action settlement if you purchased one or more of the covered products, other than for resale or distribution, in the United States from Sept. 22, 2005 to July 11, 2014.

  • SilverStar ULTRA, SilverStar, XtraVision or Cool Blue replacement headlight capsules;

Potential Award

    1. Patricia says:

      We have to wait until the courts approve the settlement and if there is no objections to the settlement filed in the courts.

      We may expect to see a check some time in August as takes about 9 months after the courts has approved the settlement before check are mailed out.

      If there is objections filed it will take longer to see a check.

  10. Randy Gardner says:

    I have four, possibly five, complete original product packaging from Sylvania headlight products from the stated list that I have personally purchased. Is it required that I submit a claim for each individually purchased package to be compensated for all of my purchases?

    Thank you,
    Randy
