A settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit against Stonebridge Life Insurance Company and Trifecta Marketing Group LLC. The class action lawsuit alleged these companies sent or authorized the sending of unsolicited text messages to consumers offering free $100 Wal-Mart gift card vouchers in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). If you were sent a text message from 650-283-0793 promoting a $100 Wal-Mart gift card, you could be eligible for payment from the class action settlement.
Who’s Eligible
Class Members of the TCPA class action settlement include all individuals that received a text message from telephone number 650-283-0793 from Nov. 28, 2010 through Dec. 2, 2010.

$155. Class Members must submit timely and valid Claim Forms to be eligible for payment from the text spam class action settlement.

Case Summary
The TCPA class action lawsuit alleges that Stonebridge authorized Trifecta to send unsolicited text messages that stated, “Thanks 4 visiting our website please call 877-711-5429 to claim your $100 walmart gift card voucher! reply stop 2 unsub.” The text messages may have varied by offering a different dollar amount for the gift card voucher or included a different toll-free number. According to the class action lawsuit, consumers who called the number in the text message would be offered Stonebridge life insurance products by Trifecta.
The text message spam class action lawsuit alleges that Stonebridge and Trifecta violated the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act because consumers did not agree to receive those text messages.
Stonebridge and Trifecta deny the allegations, but agreed to settle the class action lawsuit to avoid burdensome and costly litigation. The class action settlement is not an admission of wrongdoing.

UPDATE 1/8/15: The Lee text message class action settlement was approved at the Final Hearing. According to the Settlement Administrator, checks worth $155 were mailed in October 2014. It appears most viewers did not receive a check because their claim was denied, although notification of denials were not received by many. I called also waiting for a call back haven’t received check and friends that filed also haven’t received anything I smell a scam with this “lawfirm”
I called and talked to Tasha and she said she was going to look into my claim and call me back. I hope to hear from them tomorrow. I will update once I hear back from them.

I left my name and contact info they called me back on this number 312 589 6370.
they told me the checks went over a month ago, I explained I didn’t get one or any letter of denial
and that a lot of other people didn’t get one either. She told me that she would to some checking
and call me in a few days.
so the post I left earlier about the first batch being sent out was not correct but this what I was told
I do apologize to all for this mistake in posting. But A few days later they changed the website number????? makes you wonder????.
So everyone who didn’t get a check call the class counsel and maybe we can get some answers.

They called me back also saying the checks had been distributed…. I told her I am in contact with over a hundred people through the TCA website and no one has gotten one…. She said that I had to be wrong…. I told her I wasn’t. She said she would look into it. Told me all claim forms were approved and paid. People call them!!!!! Call them!!!!! Call them again!!!!!

The Checks that were sent out were all returned due to wrong postage. We regret the error. We will be re-organizing and re-sending the checks out in early February 2015. Due to extra processing fees, the amount of checks will now be $92.
Yawn… If you’re going to troll, you should at least have the decency to be less obvious.

Rog, Im not sure, I would be more than happy to send you the check stub, I do believe I still have it. Someone did mention that checks were sent in batches and the 1st batch went out on 10/27, maybe I was one of the lucky one’s to be in that batch.
