North Star Insurance Advisors telemarketing $375K class action settlement

Rapid Response Marketing, North Star Insurance Advisors and Torchlight Technology Group agreed to pay $375,000 to resolve claims that they contacted consumers with unsolicited telemarketing calls.

The settlement benefits individuals who received a telemarketing call from SBM Communications on behalf of Rapid Response between June 7, 2018, and May 3, 2023, as part of the final expense insurance campaign.

According to the class action lawsuit, Rapid Response, North Star Insurance and Torchlight Technology Group contacted consumers with unsolicited telemarketing calls that used a prerecorded voice. These calls allegedly violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).

Rapid Response Marketing is a marketing campaign company. North Star Insurance Advisors is a final-expense telesales company, and Torchlight Technology Group provides technology, marketing and analytics services for insurance and specialty finance companies.

Rapid Response, North Star Insurance Advisors and Torchlight Technology Group haven’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $375,000 class action lawsuit settlement to resolve the claims.

Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive an equal share of the net settlement fund. Payments will vary depending on the number of valid claims filed and the amount deducted from the settlement fund for fees and other costs. No payment estimates are available.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is March 26, 2024.

The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for June 13, 2024.

In order to receive a settlement payment, class members must submit a valid claim form by March 26, 2024.

Individuals who received a telemarketing call from SBM Communications on behalf of Rapid Response between June 7, 2018, and May 3, 2023, as part of the final expense insurance campaign.
