ocwen misdated letters claim program

Ocwen Loan Servicing has set aside $100 million to voluntarily settle accusations that borrowers may have received misdated letters from the company that resulted in a referral for foreclosure.

New York Department of Financial Services Superintendent Benjamin Lawsky initiated allegations against Ocwen of backdating potentially hundreds of thousands of letters to borrowers which was likely to cause them “significant harm.”

According to Lawsky, these borrowers received a letter from Ocwen which denied a mortgage loan modification and informed the recipient that they had 30 days to file an appeal. However, the letters were allegedly dated more than 30 days prior to the mailing date so that by the time borrowers received the denial, the 30 days to file an appeal had already passed.

In a statement given by Ocwen on the Misdated Letter Claim Program website, the company says it “sincerely regrets any difficulty these letters may have caused and is committed to preventing such errors in the future.”

Borrowers have until May 2, 2016 to file a Claim Form to receive payment from Ocwen. According to the loan company, the majority of claims are reviewed and processed within 180 days after submission.

UPDATE: On Oct. 24, 2016, Top Class Actions viewers who submitted timely and valid claims for the Ocwen misdated letters claim program started receiving checks worth as much as $2,000!

  3. Starrior says:

This is getting really stupid, Ocwen has pushed back it’s timeline twice. The Obama Adm. let the banks and this scandalous outfit do whatever it wants.

Ocwen’s corrupt staff has illegally falsified paperwork, stolen homes and ruined people’s lives.

These idiots probably can’t find and/or lost a lot of files and info.

Hopefully this new Adm. comes down hard on these criminals and shuts them down!

I think the check is for Lee Steetlement they people got paid 5,000 off top you think they care about us homeowners don’t think so I’m in Fla they still keep lieing saying they don’t have a list but watch yourself cause they are passing out 300.00 checks or nothing at all Lee people got paid but we as the victims are being treated like dogs or nobody’s Ocwen don’t care or Lee Steetlement they are working together against the homeowners who was taking advantage of with the bs force insurance some people lost there homes do they care hell no

  10. Jessica L says:

Everyone who has received checks so far when did you file your claim. I had to file on behalf of my parents who passed away lost our family home that I lived and great up in for 30 years because of them refusing to assist me due to my name not being on deed and they foreclosed without me knowing and auctioned without notifying me when they had info when I contacted them about a deed transfer. I want to take them to court for more!!!?

    1. Dogman says:

Hey Jessica sorry for your loss but unless we all come together and hire a lawyer to file suite against Lee Steetlement and Ocwen they are not right and they don’t care about the homeowners it’s all about themselves. Lee Steetlement who supposed represent the homeowners paid its people 5,000 off top now I thought Lee Steetlement would take care of the victims first but all they want to send homeowners is 300.00 now something wrong with this picture. Now Lee Steetlement and Ocwen need to be stop all homeowners need come together and file suite and make a stand now if we stand together we can make a change
