Update:

  • This class action settlement is paying out $45.22 as of Feb. 17, 2023.

  • Congratulations to everyone who filed a claim and got paid!

Consumers nationwide who purchased specific Molekule air purifier models may be eligible for compensation in the form of a cash payment and coupon thanks to a recent $1.2 million class action lawsuit settlement.

Settlement Class Members include consumers who purchased the Molekule Air, Molekule Air Pro, Molekule Air Mini, the Molekule Air Mini+, or the Molekule Air Pro Rx on or before Oct. 12, 2021, in the United States and who have not yet agreed to the arbitration provision in Molekule’s terms and conditions.

Plaintiffs in the Molekule class action lawsuit allege the company intentionally participated in false and misleading advertising. The plaintiffs say the company’s air purifiers were advertised as outperforming high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters, eradicating indoor pollutants, providing allergy and asthma relief, destroying airborne pollutants, and passing independent testing. The plaintiffs argue these claims were not true.

The company denies the allegations made by the plaintiffs. According to Molekule, its advertising has always been clear and accurate. Further, the company states, independent laboratories have tested its claims and proven they’re true.

Molekule, founded in 2014, offers a variety of models of home air purifiers, according to its website.

The Court has not looked over the facts in this case or made a ruling. Instead, all parties have agreed that the proposed settlement agreement would resolve the situation.

Eligible Class Members will receive a cash payment and coupon.

The exact amount of the cash payment hasn’t been determined yet, but it is estimated the compensation for one air purifier will likely be around $43.80.

These cash payments will be paid via check and sent through first-class mail to the Class Member’s address.

Class Members will also receive a coupon that they can use to buy a new air filter for their Molekule air purifier. The maximum coupon amount a Class Member can get will be capped at $250.

A final approval hearing in the Molekule lawsuit settlement will take place Jan 7, 2022.

Class Members who do not wish to remain a part of the Class have the right to opt out. By doing so, these Class Members will not receive compensation but can pursue future claims.

The deadline to opt out is Dec. 17, 2021.

Class Members who want to remain a part of the settlement Class but do not agree with the proposed settlement can file an objection with the Court by Dec. 17, 2021.

Class Members who wish to get a payment must submit a valid form.

The deadline to file a claim in the Molekule class action lawsuit settlement is May 31, 2022.

I received the same rejection notification after providing documentation with my initial claim form. I wasn’t surprised, based upon on the fact that they are a dishonest company to begin with, hopefully they’ll eventually go out of business, which is what they deserve.
