Lumber Liquidators has agreed to pay $36 million to settle multidistrict litigation involving allegations that some of its Chinese-made laminate flooring contained excessive levels of formaldehyde and that its flooring was not as durable as the company promised.
If you purchased Chinese-made laminate flooring sold by Lumber Liquidators between Jan. 1, 2009 and May 31, 2015, you may be entitled to benefits from the laminate flooring class action settlement.
The proposed Lumber Liquidators settlement will resolve two lawsuits, one of which alleged the Chinese-manufactured laminate flooring contained excessive formaldehyde levels and the other alleging the flooring failed to meet the industry standards for durability and scratch-resistance.
The plaintiffs claim that Chinese-made laminate flooring sold by Lumber Liquidators contained a dangerously high level of formaldehyde that made it unsuitable for use in a residence. They also claim that the flooring failed to properly adhere to the surface to which it was applied, causing it to buckle.
Lumber Liquidators was hit with more than 100 lawsuits following a March 2015 broadcast of “60 Minutes” that revealed Chinese-made laminate flooring sold by Lumber Liquidators allegedly contained six to seven times the amount of formaldehyde allowed under U.S. law.
Formaldehyde is a carcinogen, and exposure to the substance can cause headaches, nausea, and/or irritation of the eyes, nose and throat.
Lumber Liquidators denies the allegations but agreed to settle the laminate flooring class action lawsuit to avoid the expense and uncertainty of litigation.
The Lumber Liquidators laminate flooring settlement received preliminary approval in June 2018.
Class Members who would like to opt out of or object to the Lumber Liquidators settlement must do so no later than Sept. 4, 2018.

Like others I’ve read about,
I spent over 2000.00 on this flooring and received 100.00.
Really sucks
I got my check today. We received approximately 6.16% of the original purchase price. I spent about $2900 on flooring and I got less than $200. This is capitalism at its finest.
According to a document filed with the court, checks mailed on December 2nd! Let Top Class Actions know when you get yours!

Still haven’t received anything but I’m curious if it’s still only like 6% of the purchase price if you chose a voucher to the store and not cash back? Pretty disappointed after paying over $2000. in flooring.
So those who used a contractor who bought everything from lumber liquidators 6 years ago and dont have a receipt for the flooring get nothing? Not right. Plus, you blow thousands of dollars and they’re only getting up to $50? Just wrong.
The Attorneys screwed their clients. We were supposed to receive a percentage of our costs for the flooring. They settled way too soon and after their cut we only get 50.00. I was to get 40 or 50% of my cost. Now in March 2020, they are waiting for the Court to decide how much the Attys. will get. What a scam. They settled before they knew how many people had legitimite claims. Meanwhile we got scammed they get paid. Lets get together and file a class action against the Attorneys!!!!!!!!!!
Still waiting and waiting and waiting…all the while I don’t have guests over because the floors look like crap all falling apart and peeling (insert angry face)
I lived in an apartment that had this flooring in it and I developed the blood cancer Multiple Myeloma.
So tell me, what about the people who suffered physical harm from this flooring?
I would have moved immediately but the property owner didn’t receive anything concerning the flooring until June 2018 two months after I was diagnosed. The flooring was purchased and installed in 2012. That’s SIX YEARS Lumber Liquidators would take to send a notice of harm their product could/would do.
Still watching for updates on our filed claim as well. It keeps saying on the site that they are trying to get the attorneys fees compiled, and then they would figure our
measly stipend, I opted for the cash award and it looks as if those would be increments of $50-500 dollars compared to the attorney fees I’m sure in the billions, right…Its been 5+ years, Think positive hopefully it will be soon..
Has anyone got their money yet?
Nope!
I just spent an hour on their website and there is “nothing” about any payments being made to the class action members. I know it can take years to settle these. Very frustrating, I also had grandchildren playing on these floors. GRRRRR
Is the case in appeal? We spend over $4,000 for our floor. The biggest concern is the 7 grandkids that were on that flooring for years. We all should have had some compensation by now – this is outrageous!
People I spent over $4000 on my floors, but as long as they are able to keep filing an appeal it could take a decade to finally see or hear about it and by then they hope people forget.
Here it August . Nothing! We haven’t even been updated
