Lumber Liquidators has agreed to pay $36 million to settle multidistrict litigation involving allegations that some of its Chinese-made laminate flooring contained excessive levels of formaldehyde and that its flooring was not as durable as the company promised.
If you purchased Chinese-made laminate flooring sold by Lumber Liquidators between Jan. 1, 2009 and May 31, 2015, you may be entitled to benefits from the laminate flooring class action settlement.
The proposed Lumber Liquidators settlement will resolve two lawsuits, one of which alleged the Chinese-manufactured laminate flooring contained excessive formaldehyde levels and the other alleging the flooring failed to meet the industry standards for durability and scratch-resistance.
The plaintiffs claim that Chinese-made laminate flooring sold by Lumber Liquidators contained a dangerously high level of formaldehyde that made it unsuitable for use in a residence. They also claim that the flooring failed to properly adhere to the surface to which it was applied, causing it to buckle.
Lumber Liquidators was hit with more than 100 lawsuits following a March 2015 broadcast of “60 Minutes” that revealed Chinese-made laminate flooring sold by Lumber Liquidators allegedly contained six to seven times the amount of formaldehyde allowed under U.S. law.
Formaldehyde is a carcinogen, and exposure to the substance can cause headaches, nausea, and/or irritation of the eyes, nose and throat.
Lumber Liquidators denies the allegations but agreed to settle the laminate flooring class action lawsuit to avoid the expense and uncertainty of litigation.
The Lumber Liquidators laminate flooring settlement received preliminary approval in June 2018.
Class Members who would like to opt out of or object to the Lumber Liquidators settlement must do so no later than Sept. 4, 2018.

Hi. The woman who bought the flooring has passed away. We bought the house at the end of 2013 with the flooring already installed. I recieved a postcard today about the settlement. We are the formaldehyde group :(. We all have health problems since moving here, including myself with masses not yet diagnosed. What can I do?

I installed Lumber Liquidators wood flooding in my new house this year. I purchased the really expensive Arcacia wood flooring which they claimed was one of the most durable and scratch resistant woods there is. It scratches even when you look at it. I have never seen anything like it. Do you think I could get my money back or at least a good discount?

I did not purchase the flooring in my home but it was purchased from lumber Liquidators during this time frame and installed by the prior owner. Do I have any recourse in regard to compensation for replacement of this flooring?

How can I tell if its from China? I no longer have the box that my laminated wood came in and my documentation does not show where it is from. Looked up the item on Lumber Liquidators website, but it doesn’t say where its from either (not that I expect them to say where it came from). I have LAM African Mahogany that I purchased on 02/28/2014.
If you provided Lumber Liquidators with an email address, they should have emailed you a claim number in order for you to file a claim
