Keurig has agreed to pay $31 million to resolve claims it violated antitrust laws by fixing the price of its Keurig K-Cup Portion Packs products.

The settlement benefits individuals who purchased Keurig K-Cup Portion Packs from retailers other than Keurig between Sept. 7, 2010, and Aug. 14, 2020, in all states other than Mississippi and Rhode Island; between March 24, 2011, and Aug. 14, 2020, in Mississippi; or between July 15, 2013, and Aug. 14, 2020, in Rhode Island.

Claims against Keurig were consolidated in June 2014. According to the plaintiffs in the eight consolidated class action lawsuits, Keurig violated antitrust laws in order to monopolize the market for single-serve coffee pods. This monopoly allegedly allowed the company to artificially fix the price of Keurig K-Cup Portion Packs products — subjecting consumers to financial strain that wouldn’t exist in a healthy market.

In December 2017, these claims were preserved by a federal judge who denied the company’s motion for dismissal.

Keurig has not admitted any wrongdoing in the case but has agreed to a $31 million Keurig K-Cup Portion Packs class action settlement. The settlement provides reimbursement for Keurig K-Cup purchases in the form of cash payments. Reimbursement rates will vary from 0.75% to 100% depending on the state the purchase was made in and whether proof of purchase was submitted with a claim.

In order to benefit from the settlement, Class Members must file a valid claim form by July 15, 2021. Proof of purchase of Keurig K-Cup purchases and information about these purchases (number of K-Cups purchased, price paid, state where purchase took place, brand name, etc.) is required to validate claims.

The deadline for exclusion is May 14, 2021. The deadline for objection is May 17, 2021. The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for June 4, 2021.

Submitted $2645 with proof of purchase, spent several evenings finding and uploading the receipts, was expecting $198 and got a whopping $40 via paypal. What a ripoff. Wish I had those evenings back.

  6. JB says:

My payment is about 1/5 what I was expecting. I submitted proofs of purchase so I am surprised my payout was under $10 when I submitted about $600 worth of receipts over years and years of purchases.

I got a PayPal payment today. I spent an entire afternoon finding all my online purchases. I sent in 250.00 + in receipts and I received a whopping $ 4.14 you had to put in so much info for each box. What will people without receipts get?
I’d rather have that afternoon back! I recall a woman here who said she helped her dad over the weekend put in 500..00 worth around the same time. I hope he did better.

    1. AC says:

I had $1,499.23 of receipts which were submitted a month before the deadline. I received $1 in my PayPal account.

  10. Gail Platt says:

To answer all the comments – I don’t know why anyone got an email telling them that checks were going out at the end of the month. I received no email. I got a check – not Venmo or PayPal. I did submit proof of purchase for the Keurig brewers I purchased and then a few
proofs of pods from my Amazon purchases. But mostly I estimated my usage. It was stated in the suit that you would get a higher percentage of costs if you could showed proof of buying the machine and that’s what I did. No idea why mine came so early……it was mailed
8/9 from Seattle and I got it on 8/14.

    1. TP says:

Thanks for replying😊 I guess I’ll wait (im)patiently, since it’s all I can do, lol!
