Ford Lawsuit

Claim Forms for the Ford diesel engine class action settlement are now available at the Settlement Administrator website. If you purchased or leased a 2003-2007 Ford vehicle equipped with a 6.0-liter PowerStroke diesel engine, you may be eligible to claim between $50 and $825 from the class action settlement.

The Ford diesel engine settlement resolves dozens of class action lawsuits, consolidated as In re: Navistar 6.0L Diesel Engine Products Liability Litigation, that claim the PowerStroke diesel engines installed in heavy-duty Ford trucks and vans are defective and plagued with problems.

Ford denies the allegations but agreed to reimburse consumers through a class action settlement fund to resolve the litigation.

The settlement covers 2003-2007 non-ambulance Ford vehicles sold or leased in the United States and equipped with a 6.0-liter PowerStroke diesel engine. To be eligible to participate in the class action settlement, your vehicle must have received a repair, replacement, or adjustment during Ford’s 5-year/100,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty to one of the following engine components:

  • Exhaust Gas Recirculation (“EGR”) Cooler
  • Oil Cooler
  • Fuel Injector(s)
  • EGR Valve
  • Turbocharger
Who’s Eligible

Class Members that submit a valid Claim Form will receive one of the following benefits if the class action lawsuit settlement is approved:

Reimbursement for Post-Warranty Repairs to Certain Engine Components. If the Class Vehicle required repair to the EGR cooler, oil cooler, EGR valve, turbocharger, or a fuel injector after the original five-year/100,000-mile warranty expired — but before six years or 135,000 miles (whichever comes first) — Ford will reimburse the Settlement Class Member repair expenses up to the limits specified below, provided the Class Vehicle previously received a repair to that same component that was covered by Ford’s original warranty.

Ford Diesel settlement benefits

Potential Award

Up to $825

Reimbursement of Deductibles. If a Settlement Class Member paid a $100 deductible more than once for repairs under the five-year/100,000-mile engine warranty, Ford will reimburse $50 each for the second through fifth deductible paid, up to a limit of $200 for four deductible payments.

  1. Joe Martinez says:

Is there a website to check status on the claims, by vin # or by name or owner? How do I find out whether I was or wasn’t eligible?

    1. Wes Williams says:

      Joe,

No there isn’t a website or email address to check the status. I can tell you that I was told by one of the attorney’s that if they needed more information on your claim you submitted they will get in contact with you.
other than that all you can do is wait. I sent my paperwork in two days after the website said you could and still havent heard anything nor have I seen a check in the mail. After this month they wont mail the final checks out until March and that’s it….by that I mean if you dont get a check in March you wont be getting one at all from what I was told. Not sure why but that’s how it appears.

  2. DIck Peterwinkle says:

Has ANYONE received a check from these people yet????

  3. nick says:

does any body knows where or how to send the clain

  4. Jerry Smith says:

Bought my 2004 F250 thinking I would have this truck 15 years or more. I have had so many new Fords and very good service until this POS. This truck has been worked on more than all 14 of the other Fords I have owned with their service troubles added together.
All new from the same dealer. 1964 Comet, 1975 E150 Van, 1977 Mustang, 1977 Thunderbird, 1980 Escort, 1982 Thunderbird, 1984 E150 Van, 1994 Cougar, 1994 F350 Diesel, 1995 Taurus, 2001 E250 Van, 2001 Sport Track, 2003 Explorer, 2013 Lincoln. I would like to have some kind of a fair trade for something I can count on.

  6. Lorry Stolp says:

Kept calling the 800 number as of nov 2013 kept getting a recording that it was not signed yet. Finally on Dec 20 2013 recording said it was final gave me a number to call left a message they called me back on dec 26 said it all has to be sent in reg mail before 31st of dec . We live 50 miles from dealer ship where it was fixed and 40 miles from a library since we dont have the luxury of a printer or computer . What a joke. Ijust think that they made it a pain becaause the less money that gets paid out the more $ 4 the lawyers.

  7. Rich Nichol says:

Has anyone checked into a new suit into the failed 6.4L engine? Ford falsely claimed that this engine would clean it’s own exhaust system without any input from the driver. What they failed to mention is that you have to drive (input) the truck a certain way or the system doesn’t work properly. These engines continue to develop expensive problems related to their over engineered emission systems, including excessive amounts of fuel being blown into the crankcase, not to mention the sad 8 mpg.

  8. Cheryl says:

What is the phone number to call for more information?

I have sent all the paper work in on this lawsuit, now I see they have changed dates and are asking for the paper work that I have sent before to be sent again. Where I have sent this already do I have to send it again?

    Thanks
