Ford Lawsuit

Claim Forms for the Ford diesel engine class action settlement are now available at the Settlement Administrator website. If you purchased or leased a 2003-2007 Ford vehicle equipped with a 6.0-liter PowerStroke diesel engine, you may be eligible to claim between $50 and $825 from the class action settlement.

The Ford diesel engine settlement resolves dozens of class action lawsuits, consolidated as In re: Navistar 6.0L Diesel Engine Products Liability Litigation, that claim the PowerStroke diesel engines installed in heavy-duty Ford trucks and vans are defective and plagued with problems.

Ford denies the allegations but agreed to reimburse consumers through a class action settlement fund to resolve the litigation.

The settlement covers 2003-2007 non-ambulance Ford vehicles sold or leased in the United States and equipped with a 6.0-liter PowerStroke diesel engine. To be eligible to participate in the class action settlement, your vehicle must have received a repair, replacement, or adjustment during Ford’s 5-year/100,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty to one of the following engine components:

  • Exhaust Gas Recirculation (“EGR”) Cooler
  • Oil Cooler
  • Fuel Injector(s)
  • EGR Valve
  • Turbocharger
Who’s Eligible

Class Members that submit a valid Claim Form will receive one of the following benefits if the class action lawsuit settlement is approved:

Reimbursement for Post-Warranty Repairs to Certain Engine Components. If the Class Vehicle required repair to the EGR cooler, oil cooler, EGR valve, turbocharger, or a fuel injector after the original five-year/100,000-mile warranty expired — but before six years or 135,000 miles (whichever comes first) — Ford will reimburse the Settlement Class Member repair expenses up to the limits specified below, provided the Class Vehicle previously received a repair to that same component that was covered by Ford’s original warranty.

Ford Diesel settlement benefits

Potential Award

Up to $825

Reimbursement of Deductibles. If a Settlement Class Member paid a $100 deductible more than once for repairs under the five-year/100,000-mile engine warranty, Ford will reimburse $50 each for the second through fifth deductible paid, up to a limit of $200 for four deductible payments.

wow what to so long for ford to settle for this little amount this isn’t even going to cover the amount its going to take to fix my 05 f350 let alone cover the amount I paid for repairs in the past or paying for the extra coverage I paid for I loved my for just thought I had I had just got a lemon but turns out I wasn’t the only one and I am still paying for it

  2. Allan Hanscom says:

Just curious, how many people experiencing these issues are or have at any point been ‘tuned’ and no I don’t represent FMC I just own an 07 6.0L 106,000 miles and trouble free up to this point. Honest only need answer.

  3. Commercial Door & Do says:

How about a class action suit for the fuel tanks? We own two F-350 6.0 diesel trucks, where the fuel tanks delaminated creating debris to run the fuel system, causing the fuel pumps and injectors to fail.

  4. Bill Proud says:

Ford will lose in the long run. Sales will drop as the word will get around.. I was flat assed lied to by their sales dep. and service dep. They said their 6.0 Diesel will tow a 24 ft.deck boat with no problem. The truck is a joke. Ford has lost me forever. What a sham Ford pulled off on their trusted long time “ford famley of brothers.” EGR COOLER, OIL COOLER, EGR VALVE, TURBOCHARGER, FUEL INJECTORS.
    What a good looking truck.

  5. John Pullins says:

I had a 2005 F250 6.0 that was paid for and the heater started blowing cold air, I limped it into a Ford dealer on the road on Dec. 23 and they said it would cost $10K to fix. I had to trade it in for another rig to get home over the Christmas holiday. I lost a $25K truck for an $800 EGR!

  6. B Campbel says:

Soooo…no consideration by Ford/Navistar to pay for the preventive maintenance to the engine or EGR? With all the studies and information about the 6.0 issues it seems obvious it would be cheaper to agree to pay the preventive corrections to the Ford product before it inevitably crashes…what kind of law suit settlement is that? Millions of dollars settled upon and no real corrections to the problem? I would have bought another Ford Diesel, but now !

Purchased 06/2005 Replaced EGR & Oil cooler
    09/20/2010 miles on truck 30258
My cost on repairs was $927.50

Is there anyway I can recoup some of my cost
    on this repair.

  8. joe carstensen says:

If your truck is over 6 year old it does not matter you will notget any money back, and it would have been in the dealership with them trying to fix, in my case ford said it was a loose hose clamp said they fixed it no charge s no file was made, samething happened about 2 months later same thing about 8months later I found the egr wss leaking took it back they said sorry your out of the 5 year date by 4 days but they could repair it fot 8 grand. Good luck on any settlement they will fight you all the way.if any have any suggestions let me know

  9. B Campbell says:

I have a invoice estimate of approx 4,000 to replace all the parts necessary to make my 07 F-250 with 38,000 miles of some resale value, my turbo went out in 2009 with around 28,000 miles. I’m trying to keep my paid off truck from experiencing the EGR issues I’ve read about, will this lawsuit address this issue? Or do I have to wait for the inevitable EGR and oil cooler issues to leave me stranded. I already suffered the expected product performance issues on resale value, at least I would have the repair receipt showing the prevented problems.

  10. glenn says:

1 have a 2005 ford xlt 4 wheel drive with a 6.0 engine and in 1 year first computer went out 1400 bucks and in 4 months egr went out another 3900 bucks so why don’t ford just say that there trucks is a lemon and just pay us guys who belive in ford so all you people who are considering buying a ford don’t until ford owns up to their mistake
