Owners and lessees of 2014 and 2015 Jeep Cherokee, 2015 Jeep Renegade, 2015 Chrysler 200, or 2015 ProMaster City vehicles may qualify for a class action settlement over allegations that Fiat Chrysler supplied defective automatic transmissions.

Lead plaintiffs filed a class action lawsuit against Fiat Chrysler after they and other consumers allegedly experienced problems with vehicles containing a nine-speed ZF 9HP automatic transmission.

According to the Fiat Chrysler class action lawsuit, a defect caused loud noises and made vehicles difficult to shift into gear.

These problems allegedly occurred despite Fiat Chrysler’s marketing of vehicles with the affected transmission as incorporating the benefits of both manual and automatic transmissions.

The Fiat Chrysler transmission class action lawsuit states that the defect presents a safety hazard because with delayed acceleration and sudden loss of power, the driver doesn’t have full control of the vehicle.

The FCA class action lawsuit points to numerous complaints about Class Vehicles made with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Repeatedly, consumers report that their FCA transmission completely shut down on highways and could have caused a serious accident.

Under the terms of the Fiat Chrysler transmission defect class action settlement, Class Members who made at least three transmission-related complaints to an FCA US-authorized dealer could receive up to $2,000 cash or a trade-in value of up to $4,000.

Fiat Chrysler has also agreed to extend warranties on vehicles containing the 9 Speed ZF 9HP automatic transmission of the Class Vehicles to 6 years or 100,000 miles.

Class Members have until May 15, 2019 to file a claim in the class action settlement. Class Members who wish to object to or opt out of the class action settlement must notify the court by Jan. 2, 2019.

The final hearing will be held on Feb. 13, 2019.

Who’s Eligible

Class Members include those “who purchased or leased new, in the United States, for family, household, or personal use, and still own, one of the following vehicles equipped with a 9 Speed ZF 9HP Automatic Transmission: model-years 2014 and 2015 Jeep Cherokee; model-year 2015 Jeep Renegade; model-year 2015 Chrysler 200; and model-year 2015 ProMaster City.”

To claim cash or trade-in value benefits, Class Members must have made at least three transmission-related complaints to an FCA US-authorized dealer before the date their class notice was made.

Potential Award

Up to $2,000 cash or $4,000 voucher.

Why was I not informed about this lawsuit?? I had a Chrysler 200s awd with transmission problems and I bought it brand new and had to trade it in because they couldn’t fix it and just kept telling me it was a computer issue and I was so upside on my loan because I traded it in so early.

We received a $4000 voucher in the settlement of this class action suit. We want to sell our voucher for $2000. We have been advised that under the terms of the suit, the voucher may be transferred up to 1 year from the date of issuance to any 3rd party.

A written request to transfer this voucher is required. A prerequisite, Partial Payment will be required up front, and when the issuance of the new owners (YOU!) becomes final, full payment will be expected.

YOU will achieve full advantage of the $4000! Bottom line: PAY US $2000 AND YOU GET THE $4000 VALUE!

  3. Jean Tyson says:

Why would lessee’s still need to own or have the defective vehicle to qualify for this class action???
Most people lease for 2 to 3 years, not, 4 or 5 years??
That’s not including people who leased in this lawsuit. What a joke.

  4. Jean says:

I received a letter too that my claim was denied! I had all documentation and met the deadline! Something is wrong. Please, Top Class Actions investigate this!!

  5. John Barney says:

This is a joke! I bought a 2015 Cherokee Latitude from Beaver County Dodge in Beaver Falls, PA. When I took it in for the transmission recall, they did the update and that’s when the problems began. I took it back several times. They pretend like they have never heard of any transmission issues. The third time I brought it in, the young service rep had the audacity to tell me I just don’t know how to drive a 9 speed transmission. Really? You mean I din’t know how to step on the gas pedal??? It took everything I had to not grab him by the throat.
I have bought 4 Jeeps and a 300 in the last 8 years. I’m done with them.

  6. Susan Hernandez says:

I just became aware if this law suit. I had 2014 Cherokee. It was such a piece of junk. It lived at Wickstrom Jeep dealership for months. I never recieved any info on this lawsuit. This is so unfair, it probably went to the next idiot who bought it.

  7. Patrick O’Donnell says:

Beyond furious right now. Got the letter saying that my claim was denied. I had my vehicle in numerous times and provided documentation, but after the third time, the dealership said there was nothing else that could be done. So I stopped complaining about it. And now due to this bs criteria, I’m at fault for not receiving the full amount. ?

  8. RangerLady says:

Received my $400.00 check yesterday. I purchased the extended warranty when we purchased this 2015 ProMaster City Wagon. I took it in 3 times before the claim date. At first I hated this car’s transmission. Ran terrible in the cold winters of Iowa. I started as Uber/Lyft Driver in October 2016 through August 2017. So driving issues smoothed right out as I drove long and every day. I’ve since moved to Arizona and the car sits a lot and I’m starting to have troubles again, especially when I back up. It’s all herky-jerky! Now that the settlement is over and I’m about to hit 40,000 miles I hope my extended warranty covers any issues…..

  9. Doug Pariseau says:

I received a letter today denying my claim. It does not give me a specific reason why this was denied. I had more than 6 times the dealership worked on the TCM or the PTCM
It says to call 1-888-439-1609 if I have questions. This is just a recording and gives me no options to speak to anyone.
Since I submitted my claim I have had my vehicle in for problems at least more times with the most recent issue of the dealership replacing the transmission control module.
My claim was received on 11/27/18.
I really would like to know what is missing or the reason this vehicle has been denied?

  10. Fredricka Penman says:
