Babolat class action settlement

A settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit alleging Babolat VS North America Inc. falsely advertised the qualities of some of its tennis racquets. If you purchased certain Babolat tennis racquets endorsed by professional tennis players or advertised and labeled with GT Technology or tungsten from Jan. 1, 2009 through Nov. 11, 2014, you could be eligible for compensation from the class action settlement.

According to the false advertising class action lawsuit, Babolat made false claims in its advertising on the Internet, in magazines and other publications and on television that tennis professionals who endorse Babolat tennis request play with the same racquets available for sale to the public. However, the plaintiffs allege that the professionals’ racquets are allegedly different from the retail versions available in the United States. The plaintiffs also allege that Babolat labeled some tennis racquets with GT Technology as containing tungsten even though they allegedly did not contain tungsten.

Babolat denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle the class action lawsuit to avoid the expense and inconvenience of litigation.

I received a letter dated 4-17 from the Babolat Settlement Claims Administrator. In his letter he stated that the final approval hearing was as we all know was 4-6. The letter goes on to say there is a 30 day waiting period.( May 6) before granting an order to distribute funds. If approval is granted checks will be mail in the next 60 days. ( IMO around 6-6?)

Just found out about this… Clearly past the deadline, is there any hope for getting a claim in late?

  7. danny@truthapedia.com says:

The type of strings used on the rackets make a huge difference and I would always have a few rackets with differing tensions on the strings. Made for a lot of fun, like playing left handed first and then switching up after warmup. Then watch the dazed look on my opponent :)

I am attempting to submit a claim. I have contacted the Babolat Settlement Claims Administrator, and they say that I will need to get approval from either the class attorneys or the defense attorneys to be included in the claim.
I have 5 babalot racquets with receipts. I did not receive my November/December tennis magazine issue and was only made aware of the class action settlement through my tennis partner a few days ago. I have created a facebook page to collect other babalot owners thoughts on this settlement. https://www.facebook.com/babalotclassactionsettlement
