Class Members who submitted valid claims for the Babolat tennis racquet class action settlement are reportedly receiving checks in the mail. The tennis racquet settlement resolves allegations Babolat falsely advertised the qualities of some of its tennis racquets.
Viewers of Top Class Actions are reporting they have received checks worth about $60 from the Babolat tennis racquet settlement. Congratulations to everyone who submitted valid claims and got PAID!
According to the Babolat class action lawsuit, Babolat made false claims in its advertisements on the Internet, in magazines and other publications, and on television that professional tennis players who endorse Babolat tennis racquets play with the same tennis racquets that are available for sale to the public. However, the class action lawsuit alleged the professionals’ racquets are different than those available for sale in the United States.
The Babolat class action lawsuit also alleged Babolat falsely labeled some of its tennis racquets with GT Technology as containing tungsten.
Babolat denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle the tennis racquet class action lawsuit. The Babolat tennis racquet settlement received final approval on April 6, 2015.
Under the terms of the Babolat class action settlement, consumers who purchased certain Babolat tennis racquets between Jan. 1, 2009 and Nov. 11, 2014 were eligible to receive a cash payment. Qualifying racquets included Pure Drive, AeroPro, Aero Storm, PureStorm and Pure Control tennis racquets.
Class Members who submitted a receipt or serial number with their Claim Forms were eligible to receive a payment of $50 for each adult racquet purchased and $25 per each junior racquet, up to a maximum of 10 racquets. Class Members who did not provide proof of purchase were eligible for $20 per adult racquet or $10 per junior racquet, up to a maximum of three racquets.
The deadline to file a claim passed on March 11, 2015.
The Babolat Tennis Racquet Class Action Lawsuits are Adhoot v. Babolat VS North America Inc., Case No. 2:13-cv-02823 and Clark v. Babolat VS North America Inc., Case No. 2:13-cv-07898, both in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
