How to File a Class Action Lawsuit

How Do I Start a Class Action Lawsuit?

If you’ve suffered an injury from a company’s actions (or inactions), you may be eligible to file a class action lawsuit and represent other consumers who have suffered similar harm.

The first step is to find an attorney who is experienced in class action litigation to represent you. Because many defendants in class action lawsuits are large corporations who can afford to pay significant legal fees to defend themselves from litigation, it is important that the attorney you select has the experience and resources needed to bring a strong case.

Does It Cost Me Anything to Start a Class Action?

Most class action attorneys take cases on a contingent fee basis, so you don’t need to pay to participate. Attorneys who work on a contingency basis don’t get paid unless they win the case. After looking into the facts of your class action lawsuit, the attorney will decide whether it is worthwhile to take on.

How Do I Find an Attorney?

When you’re looking for an attorney to represent you in a class action lawsuit, you need to make sure the lawyer is experienced, has a strong record of success and has sufficient resources. Finding an experienced lawyer who is willing to take on your case can be a challenge.

Top Class Actions works with a number of lawyers who have significant experience representing plaintiffs in class action lawsuits. Simply submit your information at our Start a Class Action page to get started. Attorneys in our network will review your case and let you know if you qualify to take legal action. If you qualify, you will be contacted for a free legal consultation.

What Is a Lead Plaintiff?

A lead plaintiff is the person (or group of people) who files the class action lawsuit and is named as plaintiff on the class action complaint. The lead plaintiff serves as the Class representative and therefore must be able to represent the interests of all Class Members.

It is typically necessary for the lead plaintiff to be an active participant after the class action lawsuit is filed. This means appearing for a deposition, hearings, trial, and any other important meetings related to the case. If damages are awarded following a trial or settlement, the lead plaintiff will receive an incentive award for his or her efforts in bringing the case.

Hello I am Debbie Bobbitt and I want to start a class action lawsuit against AT & T due to constant outages this has become far too frequent I understand occasional outages but there was a outage for Thanksgiving we were without service for 3 days, last month March we were without service for 2 days I paid my cable bill shortly after midnight last night April 3rd 2023 & woke up shortly after 6am to NO CABLE TV NO INTERNET NO HOME PHONE. I’m disabled and recently had surgery. This happens constantly yet they have NO problems with accepting payments from us the consumers. Action needs to be taken the court needs to be brought in so that they give us the proper service due to us.

I want to start a class action lawsuit. Dearborn Federal Credit Union charges insufficient funds fees without showing what cause the insufficient funds fee. So basically I’m paying mystery beats because I don’t know what I’m paying for. And when I speak with someone about it they tell me that it comes from ‘X’ company trying to pull money from my account, but I have no way of knowing that. I’m just supposed to trust that? This has happened multiple times. Sometimes I’ll bother to call and they May refund it. But not always. Usually I have just paid because it’s easier than going through the bother of having to call and talk to two or more people to get the issue resolved. They should not be allowed to charge fees without showing the client what they’re being charged for.

How long does it take for a submission to be reviewed? Is the person notified that the case will not be taken on?

    1. Top Class Actions says:

At this time, viewers are only notified if an attorney would like to speak with them further about their submission. We have a number of law firms who regularly preview submissions. They may have felt that your complaints weren’t actionable at this time. This doesn’t mean you don’t have a case, or that you won’t be contacted in the future. It just means that the attorneys we work with at this time did not want to pursue it. You are always welcome to consult your own attorney, and should you choose to go that route, we recommend checking out http://www.consumeradvocates.org/find-an-attorney. Once there, you will be able to search a broad database of specialized attorneys in your area that you may consult.

Thank you for reaching out to us with your concerns. We here at Top Class Actions are so grateful for viewers like you, and wish you the best of luck in your pursuit of justice!

If a hospital has had an employee as a scrub tech for 13 years who claimed to be a LPN, and then finds out she has never been licensed is there any way for the hospital and the person to be accountable for there actions, she no longer works there ( she said she was fired for being late to much. ) not sure if that’s the truth. The hospital is in the state of Georgia

For the past year my USPS has been stealing and tampering with my mail. I have had my signature forged and have losses over $6000 dollars. I have opened cases and filed police reports and nothing is ever resolved. Now it has escalated to harassment. I’m out of a job because of the theift and can not safely sell. I have reported and spoken to the attorney general. I’m left with sending documentation sand letters to the ADA and senator. I do not believe that will make any difference. I’m not even wanted my money back I just want it to stop. I’ve been told by many employees of the usps customer service department this is not uncommon and I have been flagged as a person who old highend merchandise. I was even told that from an employee that works for the attorney general office. The attorney general told me to file a complaint online. I was given her number because it is not available to the public. I would think she would have been more concerned about the issue if I were able to contact her directly.

I like in the state of Maryland. We require agreement of both parties when a telephone call is to be taped.
Today I received a call from the Estee Lauder Companies in relation to an inquiry I made yesterday.

Mid-way through today’s call I asked the agent if I was being taped and she replied “yes.” I asked her to stop taping and she said she could not. She continued with the call.

Is this something that I can pursue?
