Palmer v. Sprint Settlement Checks in the Mail!
By Kimberly Mirando
Â
Class Members of the Palmer v. Sprint class action lawsuit settlement are reporting that they’ve received their settlement checks in the mail. The majority of checks are falling within $60 to $80 range.
The checks are from a class action lawsuit settlement reached in 2011 over claims that Sprint made illegal telemarketing calls in violation of several state and federal laws. Despite reaching the settlement over two years ago, distribution of the funds was delayed by several objections from a settlement Class Member.
On February 14, 2013, a federal appeals court overruled the objections and affirmed the lower court’s judgment and order of final approval.
Checks from the Palmer v. Sprint class action settlement went out last week. Checks were mailed to current and former Sprint customers who received a solicitation/telemarketing call from Sprint between 2005 and 2011 and submitted a valid claim by the deadline of November 21, 2011.
Class Members were told they could receive up to $100 or $500 per illegal phone call they received, depending upon which settlement category they fell under. Some Class Members are voicing frustration at receiving a fraction of this amount, but it’s important to note that the language in the Class Notice said they could receive up to this amount, but could receive less depending on how many valid claims were filed.
Congratulations to our Top Class Actions readers who successfully filed a claim and received their free money!
