Zimmer Durom Cup Hip Implant Lawsuit Filed
By Andrea Gressman
On September 4, 2012, a new Zimmer Durom Cup hip implant lawsuit was filed in the Indiana Northern District Court by Louisiana residents Alvin and Janis Adams. The hip implant lawsuit alleges that Mrs. Adam suffered severe complications after receiving a metal-on-metal hip replacement using the Zimmer Durum Cup. Their case joins many others pending against the manufacturer making similar allegations.
Popularity of the Zimmer Durum Cup Hip Implant Has Led to Many Side Effect Injuries
The Zimmer Durum Cup is a metal hip implant component that has been very popular for hip replacement surgeries since 2006 in the United States. However, despite the popularity of the Durom Cup, in July of 2008 a recall process was started since it was found that several surgical components did not work properly. Because of these malfunctions patients had no choice but to undergo expensive and painful surgeries to correct the problems. As a result, many victims of the metal hip implant have had no other option but to file a lawsuit in order to cover their medical expenses.
Plaintiff Files Zimmer Hip Implant Lawsuit Claiming the Device Malfunctioned
In Mrs. Adam’s hip implant lawsuit, the plaintiff alleges that she received the Zimmer Durom Cup as part of a hip replacement surgery performed on her in 2008. Post-surgery she found that she was experiencing issues with her normal gait and standing became difficult. She also experienced an overall sensation of pain due to the malfunctions of the implant. Mrs. Adams underwent a corrective surgery in 2011. The plaintiff has now filed a Zimmer hip implant lawsuit in order to receive compensation for her injuries.
FDA Revised Report Encourages Additional Awareness of Hip Implant Side Effects
In March of 2012 a report was revised by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The agency indicates that people who have received any type of metal on metal hip implants should be educated on the potential side effect complications that can occur after the hip implant procedure if their hip implant device is not working properly. The most common indicators are feelings of discomfort in the hip area, groin, or leg area, swelling of the area in or around the hip, or any change in your ability to walk are also side effect symptoms that your Zimmer Durom Cup may not be functioning properly.
Anyone that feels that they are experiencing any side effect complications after receiving the Zimmer Durom Cup as part of a hip replacement surgery should seek the proper type of legal representation as soon as possible. By discussing your situation with an experienced hip implant lawsuit attorney, you could file your own hip implant lawsuit in order to receive the compensation you deserve.
