Robert Bosch Titanium Class Action Lawsuit Overview:
- Who: Jack Allen filed a class action lawsuit against Robert Bosch Tool Corporation.
- Why: Allen claims Robert Bosch misleads consumers by selling “Titanium Drill Bit” products that are not actually made of titanium.
- Where: The class action lawsuit was filed in New York federal court.
Robert Bosch Tool Corporation deceives consumers by selling “Titanium Drill Bit” products that are not actually made of titanium, a new class action lawsuit alleges.
Plaintiff Jack Allen claims Robert Bosch mislabels its drill bits as “titanium” when they are actually made of an “inferior quality non-standard-US tool steel alloy.”
Allen wants to represent a nationwide class and New York subclass of consumers who purchased Robert Bosch “Titanium Drill Bit” products.
Allen claims the “Titanium Drill Bit” products have a titanium nitride ceramic coating of a fraction of inches but are not actually made of titanium as a reasonable consumer would believe based on the products’ labeling.
Testing from an optical emission spectrometer revealed the titanium drill bits weren’t actually made of titanium, according to the class action lawsuit.
Robert Bosch Knows Consumers Willing To Pay More For Titanium, Class Action Says
Further, Robert Bosch knows consumers will be willing to pay more for titanium drill bits since the metal is known for its high speed and durability, the class action lawsuit alleges.
“Defendant’s deceptive representations and omissions are material in that a reasonable person would attach importance to such information and would be induced to act upon such information in making purchasing decisions,” the class action lawsuit states.
Allen alleges Robert Bosch is guilty of unjust enrichment and breach of express warranty, and in violation of New York General Business Law.
Plaintiff is demanding a jury trial and requesting relief in the form of monetary, statutory and punitive damages for himself and all class members.
Robert Bosch agreed to pay $2.24 million last year to settle decade-old claims that its automobile brake manufacturing branch participated in a price-fixing scheme.

Bought several times thinking they were titanium I believe now that they were not. The bits broke overheated and didn’t cut very well. Costing me about $1,700.00 in replacement heads for my truck
