MGM Caesars, Hard Rock class action lawsuits overview:

  • Who: Class action lawsuits have recently been filed against MGM Resorts International, Hard Rock Cafe International (USA) and Caesars Entertainment.
  • Why: Consumers argue the casino operators fail to provide them with the change on their cash-out vouchers and make it difficult for them to figure out how to recover the funds.
  • Where: Casinos operated by MGM, Caesars and Hard Rock are popular with consumers nationwide.

Several class action lawsuits have been filed recently against casino operators accused of failing to provide casino players with the change owed to them on their casino game cash-out vouchers.

Consumers claim casino operators including Caesars, MGM and Hard Rock fail to provide them with the change on their cash-out vouchers while making it difficult for them to ultimately recover the funds.

Failing to make it easy for casino players to recover the change on their cash-out vouchers has resulted in millions of dollars in profits for the casino operators, according to consumers.

Hard Rock accused of making it difficult for casino players to recover change

A class action lawsuit was filed against Hard Rock Cafe International (USA) earlier this month by a consumer arguing the company makes it difficult for casino players to recover the change from their cash-out vouchers.

The consumer behind the class action lawsuit argues Hard Rock’s ticket redemption kiosks don’t provide casino players with the change listed on their cash-out vouchers, instead only giving them whole dollar amounts.

Hard Rock is further accused of making it difficult for casino players to recover their change by not providing “any meaningful instruction on how to redeem the balance.”

“No signage is available anywhere in the casino informing players on where to cash the remaining balance,” the Hard Rock class action states.

MGM effectively taxes casino players who cash out gaming vouchers, class action says

MGM Resorts International, meanwhile, faced a class action lawsuit in September that alleged the company effectively taxes its casino players by having its cash-out system allegedly not provide change from the cash-out vouchers.

The consumer behind the class action lawsuits claims MGM rounds the value of the cash-out vouchers down to the nearest dollar while providing casino players with an additional ticket for the leftover change.

MGM, however, is accused of failing to provide its casino players with instructions on how to obtain the change they are owed by using the tickets showing the amount of change that is left over.

“For the last few years, Defendants have essentially been keeping the change off of hundreds of thousands of Gaming Vouchers, essentially robbing their customers a few cents at a time, on millions of transactions,” the MGM class action says.

Caesars accused of failing to provide casino players with change

Also in September, a consumer filed a class action lawsuit was filed against Caesars Entertainment, arguing the casino operator fails to provide casino players with the change from their gaming vouchers.

The consumer behind the class action lawsuit argues casino players who play slot machines at Caesars-owned casinos are not given their change when cashing out their gaming vouchers and are essentially being robbed “a few cents at a time.”

Caesars is accused of providing its casino players with an additional cash-out voucher that gives them “no further direction” on how they can obtain the change that is owed to them.

“Upon information and belief, Plaintiff is similarly situated with hundreds of thousands of Casino patrons who have been deprived, little by little, of millions of dollars since Defendant’s adoption of its no-change policy,” the Caesars class action states.

Please add me it’s been happening to me for a while, can’t imagine how much they earned just from my family.

  2. Geoff says:

I was banned from the Linq for trying to cash in my change vouchers at the end of a full night of playing slots. They couldn’t “verify” 3 of my vouchers, refused to pay me on the 30+ other vouchers I had, and banned me on the spot. It’s a HUGE racket.

  3. Xx says:

This is the most ridiculous thing ever. Just leave the penny vouchers for the maid.

Just another way to reap millions of extra, unearned dollars. The bean counters are saying “you don’t like it, sue us, we got lots more $ and lawyers than you do”. Okay, let’s get some of our $ back.

This happens to me all the time. The first time it happened I thought, “well this is a class action lawsuit waiting to happen.” I’ve left so much money because lines are always ridiculous at the cage.
